I volunteer my skills with my local community association (mostly back end technical stuff to support their web presence and profiles), and I also volunteer at community events associated with our local park.

I do. I was just admiring it on my morning walk. A good neighbor, neat, very middle America, with a lot of interesting people.

I do. I take the Danish approach (carry a small trash bag around with me on walks and pick up the trash) and I also will go clean up spots when I see them. We have multiple neighbors who do that here. (Try it, it's contagious.)

Personally, I sometimes respond to questions with a non-answer when it is something I’m not willing to share and the thread has laid dormant for a while. I think unintentionally some questions, and I’ve asked a few, are like hitting the thread pause button. On those questions I’ll give a non-answer and then see if I can prime the pump with another question. I also didn’t answer the calamity question – my answer is way too long of a story and very personal and I just wasn’t willing to share it.

No one, I celebrate my birthday quietly with immediate friends. No big deal there. But, along that vein I have two nieces who are the primary drivers behind family type celebrations and events that are "big deals".
