What make you think I was referring to you? I can't see what tone yoru skin is form here, is it supposed to make a difference?

Since youre just joining the argument Recidivas argument stands here: because she knows at least one Black person who is not offended at hearing the N word in used in in an etymologicla discussion, if another person happens to take offence at it, LT in this instance, they are obviously faking it.

In short, she claims LT's offense is feigned, adn when I suggested that we coud settle the issue empirically, it started the current puerile exchangfe in which you are merely the latest participant.

My argument is that it's irrelevant how comfortable certain individuals may or may not be with being called that word, or how or how often it is used within the culture, what it means to you, for example to hear it from LT as opposed to what it might mean if you heard it coming from me.

My contention here is that even if you and Recidiva can joke about it in private, this in no way represents any kind of implicit understanding in terms of broader popular culture - if you can get away ith it, good for you, and by getting away with it, I mean be able to sue it without offending somebody.

i.e., if I use that word in front of 100 people and only one of them takes offense, their anger is perfectly justified, given the historical context of the word in question, and by mocking them about it and trivilizing this emotional response, I'm merely adding insut to injury, which is what happened as Recidiva continued to repat it after being informed it was being considered insulting.

Which is what Recidiva is doing here, shes going now from trying to dictate what LT's emotional response ought to be, to arguing that this whole business is merely to amuse her jaded appetites - i.e., she really could give a fuck how offended LT is, his pain is merely for her amusement.

So be it, that's all I wish to establish, you two can love fest all you want, if there is some large scale consensus that this word is no longer offensive when White people blithely utter it, outside of a few rarified circles, hip hop musicians or the like, or whatever knitting circle you and Recidiva are in, I haven't heard about it - maybe you can correct me there - no?
