Are you afraid to be a Christian?

I tend to think much the same way. I hope that a divine omniscient and benevolent being has the good sense not to be too worried about some semi-evolved apes occasionally getting his name wrong.
Not to mention a highly evolved equine. ;)

I'm going to send you all those spam chain letters I get, that tell me the good luck/bad luck works even if I don't believe them :cathappy:

Can I call him Bob?
No.

Bob angers him.

Dick would be alright, though.

:D

(Damn it, I vowed not to post in a religious or political thread of any kind. OK, from here on out.............)

You haven't told him what the name means have you?
He told me this joke:

I used to be a teacher, and I'd play this word game with my class where they would break their name into sylables. Mary Smith raised her hand, so I said "Yes, Mary."

"My name is Mary Smith. You've got your Smith, you've got your ee-Smith, you've got your Mar-ee Smith."

"Very good, Mary", I said. The next hand to go up was Johnny Jones, so I said, "Yes, Johnny."

"My name is Johnny Jones. You've got your Jones, you've got your ee-Jones, you've got your John-ee Jones."

"Very good, Johnny," I said. Then the next hand I saw was of the class clown, Archibald Barisol. No one else had their hand raised, so I had said, "Oh, okay, Archie."

"My name is Archibald Barisol.
You've got your OL
You've got your AS-OL
You've got your BARE-AS-OL
You've got your BALD-BARE-AS-OL
You've got your I-BALD-BARE-AS-OL
You've got your Arch-i-bald Bar-is-ol."

I said, "Thank you."

And I've been calling him Archibald ever since. :D

Do you hide your love for the one true almighty God? Do you remain quiet when people speak of their religion? Do you believe, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth? Do you believe that God created man in his likeness? Do you believe the Jesus is the son of God? Do you believe that Jesus died, so that the sins of man would be forgiven? Do you believe, Jesus will come to earth and judge the living and the dead?

1) No
2) No
3) Something like that.
4) Spiritually at least, physical would be a moot point
5) No more so than any other man is the son of God
6) I dodn't claim the ability to know the thoughts of someone 2000+ years dead
7) No

Christ seemed clear to me on the topic of those Pharisees who wished to pray loudly and publically. He said that the better example was the honest, pious man who prayed quietly at home and led an upright life. I take that to mean that even Christ wouldn't object to schools asking students to keep their prayers personal and inobstrusive and to not distract or harangue other students. There is, as Stella notes, a time and a place for all things, and school is the time and the place for learning math, science, languages, history, and life skills. It's important that people learn those things; Christ does not to me seem to expect or encourage his followers to render themselves or others useless to each other through lack of education.

Shanglan

there are many things that "Christians" try to do, or profess is important in the name of Christ, yet all I have read of Christ's words and deeds, he would not approve with about 99% of what his "faithful" do.

I have no problems with Christ, he has no problems with me. I have had no problems with "good Christians" either... though my definition of that constitutes such may not coincide with the average "church goer".

Christ was a wonderful spiritual teacher, as was Budda and Mohomad, and so many others. It is a shame so many of their names have been use to tell others how wrong, evil, lost, or lacking in value they are.

Wise outlook on the issue.

As Porphyry said, ...oh, never mind....there are plenty of Christians who are different enough from the religious right/fundamentalist clique to NOT fit that quote. :D

Wouldn't YOU be afraid to be a Christian if you knew you were going to get fed to a lion?

Just heard this on Bill Maher.

Made I larf.

The only thing that George Bush has in common with Jesus is that they both went into their father's business and they both got crucified for it.

The freedom from persecution you speak is from government.
In a Government "of the people, by the people and for the people", the government is every citizen.

Thought for the day

Regarding

Do you believe the Jesus is the on of God?
Do you believe that Jesus died, so that the sins of man would be forgiven?
Do you believe, Jesus will come to earth and judge the living and the dead?

The evidence is pretty shakey that Jesus himself believed any of these, esp. in the sense conveyed in the creeds of official Xtianity.

What does this have to with Literotica? I thought we were here to talk dirty and sin!
