Are people on TV/radio stupid? Of course your kids don't belong to you as a parent.

They're people. They aren't property. They don't belong to anyone. You, as a parent, are responsible to the community, and to your children themselves, to raise them to be good citizens and good people. But they don't belong to you.

WHy the f--- are people pretending Melissa Harris-Perry said anything weird?

Oh, right, because morons will listen to their Goldline ads if they pretend to be outraged by it.

>.<

My kids belong to me, they are 'my property'.

Put your hands on my property and see what happens.

I will not rely on the community to protect them.

People are not property.

Your children are not yours to dispose of as you will: they have rights. A parent's power over them is held in trust, for the child's good, rather than for the parent's indulgence.

That's why crackheads and abusive parents can lose custody. They are custodians of their children, not their owners. A person cannot be property in this country.

Language failure. The relationship between parent and child transcends words.

Your country is fucked up so who cares?

My kids belong to me and my wife. Nobody else.

No, your kids belong to themselves.

You are their custodians and guardians, and hopefully their lifelong close family and friends, but they belong to themselves.

No.

Once they learn to survive on their own I will grant them their freedom.

Until that day, they're mine.

It is not yours to grant. They were born with it. Your authority over them is time-limited, and it is your duty as a parent to use it well, to raise them into the best people you can.

But they are not, and have never been, property. There is no such thing in the United States as property in persons.

My kids will always be mine.

I brought them into this world and I can take them out, but its all my choice.

ElOhEl.

Yes, they belong to me.

Now shut up about it.

She didn't say anything wierd, worse the people screaming the loudest about this are the same people who cry the most about the destruction of the community.

If they were really your property, you could sell them. You can't do that, even in Canada.

There is a lot of paperwork involved to do it legally, but yes I can.
So for profit adoption is legal in the US? Good to know.

How about renting out or scrapping for parts?

I'm actually 99% sure it is.

If it isn't, then it gets done under the table A LOT. People buy kids from druggies all the time. It's the only way to get them to sign their rights away a lot of the time. The law in Ky is that if you CAN get the child back to the biological mother, you're supposed to. That means if the biological mother goes to one methadone meeting every 6 months, she can have her kid back. I was in NA with a bunch of bitches who were only there so they could get their kids back, not because they wanted the kid, but because they wanted the kinship money so that they could spend it on drugs. And I know three that sold the kids for more then they could get in kinship.

Plus, some countries are refusing to let us adopt kids anymore because we treat them like property to the point of returning them when we don't like them. Didn't that happen to so many Russian kids that Russia was just like, "Yeah, we aren't giving Americans anymore kids". Like it's common enough to be a problem.

We... are just flat out bad people. I don't know what to tell you, Liar.

Oh, and the 'renting out' thing. You can legit rent your kids to other people for tax purposes. It's a pain in the ass and another form for me to fill out, but basically, you still get the child tax credit, while allowing the other person, who does not have to be a guardian, to claim the child for earned income credit. Apparently, this was done so that people who were supporting their live-in-lover's children could still get SOMETHING for supporting those kids all year. But it's a pain in the ass because it is the most abused thing. Jesus fuck the fraud at my desk alone.

Kids are emotional property though....

The number of instances I see in the media of a couple who have a bad breakup so one of them kills the kids to get back at the other.
