ok damnit, it was three months ago that i recieved an email saying "your story will be posted in the extreme section of literotica" and still no updates! now i'm not just whining, i really do want to know if anyone here knows what the deal is. is lit not being updated anymore? has the story section of the site died a bloody death? what is the deal?

A story I submitted recently took four days to be rejected then three
days after I re-submitted it with edits it appeared in the BDSM section.

Three months sounds excessive. Something is wrong somewhere. Maybe it got
lost and will never be posted unless you re-submitt it. Maybe its worth
sending a query to whoever is managing the story approval and posting
process to see what happened to your story.

apparently " extreme" is a reference to the slowness of the updating, not just the content of the stories of the more adventuresome. Even free speech advocates like Lit must be vigilant if they want to keep this a free site.

the main story site is alive and well, posting about 50 new stories daily, including bdsm and fetish. posting waits run about 3 days to a week .

well consarn it, the extreme section hasn't been updated since december of last year.....maybe i should just give up on having my stuff posted here. oh well. thanks for the insight, guys.

Have you tried resubmitting?

Are they BDSM type stories or is there another category?

I am not sure what is up with the Extreme section, but can ask if you want.

:)

i submitted it as bdsm, but they told me that since it included "violent rape" that they were going to stick it in extreme. fine by me if they'd just do it! :p

asking somebody would be great, MissT! thanks so much! ^_^

There are others in the same position as far as the "extreme" section goes. That site, a sister site of Literotica, used to be updated monthly, but that has fallen to a much longer time frame. Laurel explained it once, and I'll see how much I can remember.

I do believe that there is a different formatting involved on the "extreme" site. Not sure what/how, but that has something to do with it. Also, because the nature of the site is, well, extreme, it has to do with COPA, which involves the protection of children. There is currently a discussion on the Author's Hangout about this very thing. Seems a few authors have submitted stories there a few months back and are still waiting a response.

If you received notification that your story will be published to the extreme section, then it will get there. Just no way to say when. I would suggest that you might PM or email Laurel and ask when the next update to the extreme section might be.

The rest of Lit is operating as normal. It takes 3 days to see stories posted there.

I don't understand why the Extreme files have to be separated from Literotica because of COPA. That law only deals with access by minors to certain sexually explicit material, defined in the statute as harmful to minors.

COPA doesn't regulate the content of stories or make extreme stories illegal (or underage stories for that matter), only the access by minors to the content is made illegal. The extreme site can be accessed just as easily as this site can be by anyone. If they are worried about violating COPA, they better add something to Literotica to prevent minors from accessing it as well.

Actually all of this is moot at this point since the "Supreme Court on May 13, 2002, issued a decision on Congress's latest attempt to censor the Internet. The Court did not decide any of the core legal questions, but ordered a lower court to decide the case on a wider range of First Amendment issues. Meanwhile, a majority of justices appeared to have grave doubts about the law's ultimate constitutionality, and the Court left in place an injunction barring enforcement of the law." and this too.

Gauche:p

I have many a questions.

Is the extreme site differant for literotica? or are people just refferring to the extreme portion of literotica?

if they are differant are there subjects that are allowed to be posted on the extreme site that aren't allowed on literotica?

What is COPA?

All for now but be careful how you answer because I am not that bright...:D

lgl, i'd love to answer your questions, but i think i'll let somebody more qualified do it (you know, somebody who knows what they're talking about)

thanks for all the info guys, and i'm glad to hear that lit isn't stagnent. so oodles of gratitude! ^_^

Does seem strange, let's see if I've got this right :

Kids are upset by pretend rape stories so it has to go away somewhere else, even though kids shouldn't be here in the first place, but having by-passed the disclaimer by unlawfully declaring their age they've taken it on themselves to be upset or twisted up emotionally.

But, it's OK for them to read about some person being tied to a frame, have candle wax melted over her tits, a beer bottle shoved up her arse, beaten to a pulp with a whip, then fucked sensless by her master in BDSM section.

OK all makes sense.

pops......................

Gosh, that sounds like fun. Is that something you need to sign up for?

Your story sounds like fun Bunny. I would love to read it. Please

Me too please, at cpitter@onetel.net.uk.

You do realise, Bunny, that you have just invented a new category: it is called "Effort" because it's hard work getting 10,000 reads if you have to email each copy separately via the Author's Hangout.

the difference between "nonconsent" and "violent rape" seems to get mixed up a bit. There's a point where it goes over the edge, and while I've had "nonconsent" stories classified as "violent rape" i've never had bdsm stories classified as such.

The story that was sent to Extreme I put into the "complete" folder and let it rest. 6 months later I went back and read it again, and it almost made me sick to think I'd written something like that. Some of the stuff seemed cool, seemed ok, but now i'm not so sure it should have been submitted to lit as it was.

I suggest you go back over your story, bunny, and figure out if it's exactly the way you want it. After letting it sit a week, a month, some period of time, you can look at it from a casual point of view. It's your story and it needs to be perfect, but make sure it's exactly how you want it. If it's perfect without any changes, then keep it just the way it is! Don't change it so that it'll get put on lit, hold on and wait for another site.

Chicklet

good advice chicklet, but you're preachin' to the choir! :p

the story sat in my hard-drive for a full half-year before i even showed it to anyone. it's been tweaked and polished a zillion times over and i'm absolutly positive it's precisely how i want it. and yeah, i did consider changing it so it would be more "lit-friendly" but as i explained to rough-play, i have a vision and am stubbornly sticking by it! ^_^

Must agree luv, nice to get it published on Lit but comes a point you can't alter it any more without cocking it up or making it too tame for your own likings.

I've just posted the first real non-consent/rape tale, how it will fair I've no idea yet, I too have been trying to keep it Lit friendly, but it's a struggle at times.

Hey if you need another reader don't forget old pops: pop_542002@yahoo.co.uk .Wink.

sent, but i did post it to a thread in the bdsm board called "three cheers for me" i have no idea how to post a link to that thread here, nor do i understand why the stupid stupid board won't just let me re-post the story (c'mon, how much space does a little .txt file take up?) so i'm sorry i can't be more helpful, but please feel free to hunt down the thread and read the story (or i'll just email it to you like i have to all these kind people)

Good, I also think you should stick to your vision Bunny.
