Annual Nude Day Contest Support Thread

I'm new at this and readers/authors get really critical - did all of you get your paychecks for writing?lol

I'm wondering, how do i know what place i was in and votes changed mid-way - didnt' get that.

ANYone, let me know the next contest...just fun trials...does liter....let participants know there is a new contest ... this one is finished the 12th so when does the next one start.

Welcome to Lit, to AH, to the contest, and this thread. (whew)

There is no way to know, for certain, what place you are in. Your best bet is to check the highest scoring stories in your category on the TOP list and compare those that happen to be in the contest to your score.

As for contests, they tend to be front loaded in the first half of the year. There are only two more during the remainder of 2006. They are:

Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 1
closes: October 22
winners announced: October 29

Winter Holidays
themes: winter holiday traditions (dreidels, gift giving, etc.), cold weather (snow), holiday mythology (Santa, elves), etc.
starts: November 10
closes: December 7
winners announced: December 14

I R'd and V'd. Didn't C. The second person, and the lyricism, not my cuppa. For what it is, it is a marvellous work, and deserves high marks.

I genuinely appreciate your R and your V, but – most of all – your H (honesty)! Seems everything I write bleeds "lyrical/poetic" (I get alot of: "it's fine for a piece this short, but I could never read a longer work in your style" comments). Believe it or not, it's not an intentional/conscious style choice. I don't know how it gets in there... I'm dying to learn how to 'cauterize' it.

Real life has been hard on my creaky armour. I almost didn;t have time to finish my story, and even less time to post. I'm hoping summer wil be better, in many ways.

all 5 chapters are in LW, which is why I put this one there, though it fit less well. If 1 through 4 had scored poorly, I would understand, but they did fine. Maybe not "nude day enough"????

I don't know about "nude day" enough... the rules clearly state exhibition/voyeur or just stories with nudity are within the contest guidelines... *shrug*

I'm probably going to start a thread after the voting closes about the "on topic" issue. It would cover all contests, but especially "Nude Day." Along with a lot of other folks, I'm a bit uncertain what constitutes being "on theme" and how much weight it should have in the voting.

My gut instinct is Laurel and Manu are putting up prize money to keep writers happy and churning out more content for the site. I don't think they're particularly interested in the issue of nudity any more than they are the celebration of Halloween. But others (including L & M) may disagree. With luck, the threab would generate more light on the subject than heat.

However, knowing the AH, there's always a chance the reverse will happen. So I'll wait until after the voting closes to start it. That way the discussion won't affect anyone's totals.
