Ok..so I first saw
B00005JL3K.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

in the theaters. Thought I loved it. Really did. Don't know why..but I thought it was great.

So yesterday I wondered into my local video store and saw the DVD on Sale. I bought it. Brought it home and in great anticipation I put it into my Toshiba DVD player..to watch on my 21" non-suround sound TV set.

IT SUCKED. When you take the movie off the big screen so you don't get the rush of the special effects and the rush of the action...you start looking at the acting and the script and the plausability of the stunts....and damn it..i hated the fucking thing. I sat threw it just say..shit shit shit...this movie is shit!

So lucky for me. i know the chap at the local video store and i went back in today and just exchanged the CRAP for a real movie!

This movie is by far the better movie. Hell one of the best movies. Great story..great acting..great music...great everything.

I loved it..

Anyways...thats my story and I'm sticking too it..

anyone else ever seen either of the two movies? Care to give an opinion?

Post away... if not..let the thread die..just wanted to share that little story with you all.

Thanx for reading.

I saw XXX, didnt care much for it either. I think Vin Diesel is highly overrated. That movie is an Americanized version of the James Bond series.
Didnt see Salton Sea yet.

I've never seen either. THat is one of the problems with action movies though. People who own small TVs have best like good dramas.

I liked it when I saw it in theatres but I've avoided renting it since it hit the video stores because I'm afraid I'll have the same reaction you did. I'll leave my first impression unspoiled.

You shall be burned for heresy! I've only seen "XXX" on video but I loved it! The acting was good and the actions scenes got my blood pumping! Vin is the new action hero.

Now in all fairness I haven't seen the other movie so I can't compare the two, but as the president of the "I want to fuck Vin Diesel" club, I'm going to vote for "XXX".

I'll get back to you after I've rented "The Salton Sea" and I'll revote!

edited for spelling

If you want Vin Diesel and a moderately good script and good acting, I think you have to go all the way back to Pitch Black.

If you want Vin Diesel and good acting and good script, look for Knockaround Guys, when it's out on video. It kicked ass. It was made before he became Mr. Popularity, and it was just shelved for a long while.

I haven't seen Salton Sea. What's it about? What genre, even?

Shadwann2 - yes, he is the sexiest thing ever. One of my guyfriends says in complete bafflement, "But he sounds like he just got out of jail, and reads at a third grade level."

I shrug. I refuse to dignify that by arguing, especially with a man who refuses to see any Lord of the Rings flick, simply because he hates Liv Tyler.

Over americanized?

NO WAY...

A.) Is there such a thing?

B.) Are you saying that parashoot flag thing was a little to much? :p

I agree with you all..other then Shad :p sorry lady..

If you like fucked up drug movies with a higher purpose...The Salton Sea is the way to go..Val is all good.

It's beyond my grasp that people actually paid to see Vin Diesel.

I mean, c'mon.

Pitch Black was passable, but XXX???

For a big dumb action movie, XXX wasn't bad. I own the DVD and do agree that my opinion of the movie has sank since I saw it in the theater, but that's just because just about anything kicks ass on a huge screen.

When they make the sequel, I hope they improve Samuel L. Jackson's character. His story interests me just about as much as Xander Cage's.

But what the FUCk was up with that dumb ass ending!!!

"You passed the test. The Gibbons test." said gibbons

"Your kidding me" said X.

What the hell kind of dumb ass script is that?

but ya..i'm all over hearing gibbons story!

Yep. XXX was just silly..

At the end, where they were showing scenes of city life, old woman about her day, crowds - I looked at my friend, in the theater, and said, "Small child playing. One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand -"

and bam, there was a toddler in a snow suit, chasing pigeons.

:D

bad script. no biscuit. Also, every scene, you knew when whatsherface was going to kiss him - lipstick would suddenly be missing from her face. Sighhh.. you know you're not really into a movie when...

or, as we say, "if the audience notices that, we've got bigger problems!"

Okay...I'm ready for the flames.
I haven't like a single movie Vin Diesel's been in. I guess I like action movies with a plot...you know, the ones where you actually have to think. I mean, you could sit there and watch the fast and the furious or XXX with your mouth wide open, drooling, and stabbing yourself in the forehead with a fork with corks on the end and still get the same amount of enjoyment as anyone else from watching that. I don't know...I guess I'm just too big a James Bond fan, because Vin Diesel flicks are completely brain-dead to me.

Sheeesh..you wan't a plot with your movie?

So have you seen 'The Salton Sea' yet?

Not even close. There is nothing Bond-like in XXX at all. The only reason people say that is because some reviewer spouted off that is was a Bond-type movie. And now the idea is floating around like some poison gas, infecting random people and making them spout a moronic idea.

No offense.

Actually, the movie's production staff said in numerous interviews that they were trying to make a Generation-X James Bond.

And, really, if Bond were born in Southern California in the mid-'70s and listened to punk music, you'd probably get something like Xander Cage.

excuse me but I think for myself, I dont care if some critic made that comparison. Vin Diesel is overrated and fugly. Every movie he is in is simplistic and appeals to those who dont appreciate real films. XXX had very Bond-like themes, everything from the action sequences to the gadgets.
