The question is interesting to me......the question of how far back are people allowed to go in thier family tree and associate themselves racially with one or more particular ethnic groups.

For example....I am Italian. Now most hard core Italians cringe at the idea that Blacks, and Italians are genetically very similar, if not related. Personally it doesnt affect me one way or the other.

If I was able to go back in my family tree for example, and find a black relative, who sired, or had children that I am a direct descendant too.....am I black? Or caucasian Both? what?

It's of interest to me and several others Problem.

Racial identification is something that is personal and worthy of discussion.

The example of honeylick being labeled as black by marxist while being far and away the whitest black chick I have ever seen may have prompeted the issue... which is sorta odd. But its still an issue that can be discussed without much problem.

I admitted that I was perhaps perpetuating a thread in which the object(honey) may wish would die a quick death. I also tossed in the Italian/Black concept.

I read all the posts, and read Lances link as well. The topic is worth discussion, and is worthy of more substanative commentary than....you are a racist, etc etc

What legal definitions are available as to what someones race is.....does anyone know Lexis Nexis? ....I'm not familiar with looking up case law.

What scientific/genetic studies have been done, and what did they conclude that would be accepted as fact.
