Am I The Only One That Didn't Know Honeylick Was Black?

If that was an offensive question, I apologize.

I don't think it was offensive and I didn't take it as such.
I, personally, was just making an observation of my own personal experience and relaying some things that I was thinking of as I read some of the happenin's in the thread, here.

I didnt know she was black either.

I just thought she was kinda hot:confused:

It's interesting how those sorts of questions only come up when someone doesn't fit someone else's idea of what a certian "race's" phenotype should be. I've been there tooooo many times.
Until the inclusion of the Multiracial category on the 2000 Census, the never-quite-really-official-and-so-very-unnecessary One Drop Rule was technically in effect - meaning that one drop of African blood made someone an African American. ppppppffffffttt....

I call myself Black even though I'm a hybrid mix of Black, Cherokee, and Irish. I really couldn't pass for anything but black and although some people assume I'm bi-racial I don't think of myself as such.

I also don't mind talking about it and see no reason to get offended about the topic. Some people have interesting racial backgrounds and finding out about them only helps to get to know that person better. It's fine for people to state that "It doesn't matter" and "It's who you are on the inside that counts" but there's also no problem with asking. A person ought to be proud of whatever their background is and flaunt it.

"What are you?" is the one question that I've been asked the most in my life. The question itself doesn't bother me, but the context in which it's asked has some bearing on my answer. I've been told I'm not, shouldn't, can't identify as one thing or the other quite a few times. It's fun!

Well its cool that some people here can actually talk about an interesting topic without getting all defensive.

It's also funny here when some people can ask the same questions I do and everyones cool with it, but I ask them and it suddenly becomes a feeding frenzy.

When I mentioned something is fishy......I thought something WAS fishy....and ultimately the whole thread was fishy, and an aparent ruse. But many people took it as fact. I smelled a rat, and was chastised for being insensative. What I think is insensative is allowing the people that bought into the joke to look like fools.

Plus you can go to a record store, and buy a Cornelius Brothers record without looking like a fool.....To the indian reservation for cheap smokes and booze...and take St Patricks day off work as a legal holiday.

How cool is that Minkey?

:D

Killswitch, again your tone defeats your post. Nobody played anyone as a fool. The thread bagan as a lark, a funny one comign from marxist.

Even though it's red, my hair is way too nappy for anyone to make any mistakes. :D

Maybe I'll start making up stories about my lineage just to fuck with people. One week I'll be Cuban and the next I can be Jewish. :D
