Am I The Only One That Didn't Know Honeylick Was Black?

man... when i get my hands on marxist...

tongue in cheek people... tongue in cheek

Honeylick, without adding too much to the meley I just want to say that you are one tollerant chica. I'd be smackin' heads together by now.

Killswitch, She doesnt have to justify anything. Its a statement by marxist meant to be a funny thread. Honeylick isnt exaclty applying for UNCF funds so drop the agenda.

Once again, I regret posting acknowledging soemthign you said.

That being said I am dropping the discussion, or lack thereof here out of respect for Honey.

If I decide to post a thread on the larger topic.....Im sure my trollies will have absolutely nothing of substance to add.....

Sorry Honey for perpetuating this, and being curious.

KS

KS she said that tongue in cheek. Tongue in cheek means she was joking. She is not angry with Marxist. She gets his joke.

Killswitch,

The problem with your post was the accusatory tone directed at honeylick you merited no such response.

Chill.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit if she's half black, a quarter jew, and 6% eskimo? I'd rather worry about trying to get in her pants...

i got 25% off my lunch tab since i ate topless.

So you're not really from the Phillippines?

It's interesting how those sorts of questions only come up when someone doesn't fit someone else's idea of what a certian "race's" phenotype should be. I've been there tooooo many times.
Until the inclusion of the Multiracial category on the 2000 Census, the never-quite-really-official-and-so-very-unnecessary One Drop Rule was technically in effect - meaning that one drop of African blood made someone an African American. ppppppffffffttt....

Now, I think that there's definitely not enough emoticons on this thread. Get to work!

Check out the Rhinelander Annullment case of 1924. That's some interesting reading about some real bullshit.

Oh baby, those points speak for themselves
I'd have risked chipping a tooth to kiss them ;)

I just remember reading one of her posts that said her grandmother (I think) was very very black. I have no idea about the rest of her ancestors, just what I read from her post.

That does bring up a good question though. What determines if you are black or white, really? Does one relative in your family tree who is black as coal make you "black" too, even when you look "white?" My guess is the way you look at yourself must be closely related to the community in which you are raised. (It's a real question though because I really don't know.)

I think I got Killswitch going based on my post above. Sorry, I was genuinely curious how people define themselves, how they determine who they relate to and feel a part of. I still think the answer has to be tied somehow to the community, not just the bloodlines.

Marxist says Honeylick is black. I was curious how she saw herself. If that was an offensive question, I apologize.

I know a girl in Illinois who is just as pale as my white friend Dawn, who doesn't tan well and stays out of the sun if at all possible. In fact, they could pass for sisters except that Sherry has a wider nose and decent sized lips. Both Sherry's mother and father are black but she's a throwback to an ancestor, apparently. A lifetime ago, Sherry would have been able to move away and begin her life as a white woman and no one would have been the wiser.

As Minkey says, there's that 'One Drop Rule' that I think is still unofficially in effect meaning a lot of people who think they're white aren't. There's not an official number of generations you can go back to obtain your racial type. I also think there are a lot of people who think they are a certain race who would be *very* surprised at what they'd find if they went back in their family line.
