That does bring up a good question though. What determines if you are black or white, really? Does one relative in your family tree who is black as coal make you "black" too, even when you look "white?" My guess is the way you look at yourself must be closely related to the community in which you are raised. (It's a real question though because I really don't know.)

I've heard that perhaps your Grandmother was black....are your parents black?

The question is interesting to me......the question of how far back are people allowed to go in thier family tree and associate themselves racially with one or more particular ethnic groups.
For example....I am Italian. Now most hard core Italians cringe at the idea that Blacks, and Italians are genetically very similar, if not related. Personally it doesnt affect me one way or the other.
If I was able to go back in my family tree for example, and find a black relative, who sired, or had children that I am a direct descendant too.....am I black? Or caucasian Both? what?
