2008 Secret Santa Gift opening thread

Guilty confessions

I had to open mine before I went to work today. I confess to being a bit of a kid with presents. It's not often I get a real suprise in my presents.

My Secret Santa sent not one but two seperate boxes!

In the first box I found not only the lovely purple Princess TY Beanie Bear (yes I do collect them and I didn't have a Princess) but the bear came with an absolutely stunningly covered volume of Gone With The Wind! It is a truely lovely work of art, both inside and out. Something perfect for a cozy winter's read.

The second box contained a game "52 Weeks of..
Naughty Nights
(Hope Nero's up for this, giggles)

And if that wasn't enough, there was also a set of Aquamarine stud earrings! The piscean in me is just swimming over the tremendous generosity of my Secret Santa! Thank you so very much.

(Pics will be posted later.)

Sounds like everyone so far loves their presents. I like hearing that, and I love all the pics. I'm still fawning over my gifts and I did indeed take the little martini set to work to show off. They thought it was awesome! :D

I have been charged with the task of taking at least 1 photo a day, and once in a while picking a favourite to go into my Gallery Thread. I will however, start a Flckr or Livejournal for a picture a day :)

I love my new Panasonic Lumex DMC LX3 Silver :D it's amazing :D

I haven't forgotten about mine. I'll be opening it tomorrow afternoon. If you'd like to reveal names (and I'm holding up the process), please feel free. I won't even try to figure mine out.

Okay.... My SS knows that I opened my way early. Had to for obvious reasons....

However here is what I got...

I love reading... especially paranormal books and they included one by an author that I had never read before

THEN......
they also got me a wonderful red dragon with a hidy hole at the bottom to secret stuff away.

I already told them thank you so much for giving me a smile this year :rose:

WOW!!!

Okay first off, the Fuddy Duddy's all over my living room floor (bottom of the bag was open!) made for a few minutes of entertainment for my cat-I'm trying to clean them up and he decides to play hockey with them. 5 second rule saved most of them-I know whats been on my floor! lol

Hot chocolate mixes, some awesome tea's that I'll have to hide from my teenagers-who happen to love tea, cute snowmen coasters, an adorable Mr. and Mrs. Clause figurine, an incredibly beautiful trinket box, a most perfect fitting magnet for my fridge ( 50's deb. sitting all pretty like saying "Not all bad girls wear black...") and my favourite thing, a Jane Austen Little Instructions Book.
I certainly don't know how you managed to keep within budget but everything will truly be put to use!

Thank you sooo very much Magica Practica!!

ps, pictures to follow after work

Sorry I couldn't post yesterday.

Big Thanks to Anonymous. I received an interesting book on royal women who met bad ends called Doomed Queens (is this a subtle warning?) and a romance novel magnetic poetry kit (which I may have to use if I'm ever going to write erotic poetry again.) Thank you!

Cealy - *ahem* I hit a gift shop that was going out of business when they went down to 75% off. :D

HURRAH!

Husband, and therefore SS gift, arrived earlier than expected! I am about to open it, but let me first describe the exterior...

Largish, Squarish, pretty heavy, it's about the size of 3 or 4 large tissue boxes nd probably weighs the same as a bag and a half of flour (I am guesstimating here, and trying to delay the gratification somewhat :d)
It is liberally covered in white printer paper (at a guess) and has big black writing on it.

OK, I'm going in...
(I'm also going to do this all in one post, to save people from wondering if I'd been attacked and killed halfway through, as I did with Remec)

OK, Having battled my way through, oh, about a reel of sellotape I have reached the inner box... I didn't realise you could get poptarts by the box-load - guess you're a fan of poptarts, huh Santa? :d

Right, am going into that now. Nope, strike that, hubby just took the scissors off me and told me that 'scissors are sharp' and started opening it - I *think* he was being sarcastic...

oooooo - shredded paper!

OK, seriously - hundreds of choccies! Not a make I know - Ghirardelli. Heh, hubby just accepted a peanut butter one with alacrity as payment for helping me with 'the sharp scissors'.
And I was serious about the numerous chocolates! Will take a photo later....

And - ooh, wow, a letter and, um, 5 CDs...
OK, this is so cool and exactly what I was hoping for really. Someone who knows a lot about a type of music that I said I was interested in who has decided to educate me. I have written instructions and a set of CDs. This really is a very *me* sort of a present and I'm thrilled. I'm gonna learn about country music.

I've always liked it, and said I did, but don;t know much about it (believe it or not, but the country music scene in the UK is not that big, lol). I saw a documentary on Dwight Yoakam once and have heard some other random bits and bobs, but the closest I've come is Dolly Parton and it's really hard to break into a new music genre if you don;t have someone to tell you where to find the good stuff and give you an overview of the genre.

Anyway, I'm raving, but that's because I wanna finish writing about my pressie and trying to explain how absolutely chuffed I am with it, and go read all about it and put a CD on :D

<bounce>
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to my Santa

ps- Santa, I've been to Arizona and driven from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon, so I have a sort of idea about the kind of space you're talking about, but I'm saving up for a trip to the States now I'm older. I may include Nashville ;)

I just got through opening mine. Sorry for the delay. I got an absolutely beautiful crocheted lap robe from cloudy. White with green leaves and little purple flowers. It's so soft. I'm always cold so I know I'm going to use it all winter and I'll think of her every time I do.

Did everyone open theirs?

Is it okay to give an open 'thank you' to our Secret Santa now?

I know this is a high jack but I gotta propose this for next year and if someone thinks i should start a new thread or remind about it later...

How about the adults doing secret satnta next year and those with kids do secret santa with the kids? *thinks it's a good idea because kids always like to open extra presents*

BTW sorry about not participating this year, things got away from me and I totally forgot...

The person I had has yet to post their likes or dislikes with their present :(
Making me wonder if it was totally off base!
I am really feeling bad at this point about what I sent-I thought I followed her likes and dislikes...

Oddly, I typed a quite nice description 3 days ago, which I do not see among the posts. My brain is in fog mode, apparently I didn't hit the post button, or something. So here goes again.

I asked my SS to send me things that would reflect something of herself. And she did!!!

The lovely blue box is covered in snowflakes, and now resides in my living room, holding Christmas cards. There is a lovely card, in which she explains how each gift relates to her. She made a lovely eye soother with flax seed and cinnamon, and it definitely works! The 70's CDs (my favorite decade!) have been pilfered by my daughter (although I did sneak in last night to retrieve them). There is a wonderful book on CD. All my kids will be gone for the next 2 days, and I intend to lay back and enjoy listening to it.

The chocolates are amazing, although I may never eat them. They are bittersweet chocolates individually wrapped with pictures of some of my favorite authors! Perfect for an English Lit major.

Thank you so much for everything, I love it all, especially learning something about you.

Sorry it took so long. I just got mine two days ago but I was working and didn't have time to post.

My secret santa got me a really cool book called City Foxes. It's about a kit of foxes born on the edge of a cemetery in a city. It's an interesting read with some really beautiful pictures. I listed foxes among my favorite animals so this was a great gift. Thank you very much! :D

I want to make sure that my Secret Santa knows how much I love the Journal.
It's the perfect gift and I already know what I'm using it for.

Sal, thank you.
