Hiya all. I'd like some feedback from more experienced authors than I about mentioning other sites in my posted work.

Here's my situation: I wrote a novel I've yet to post here because I don't wanna start posting the chapters until my editor is finished looking the story over in its entirety. Now, it's a long story, 160,000 words over 25 chapters. The sex doesn't start in earnest until the 9th chapter. To keep the reader interested, I asked some artists to illustrate images of the characters, with some of those being nudes. But since Literotica now has a "no nudity" mandate for the illustrated stories they post, I'm going to have to remove all the unacceptable images from the story before I post it. Bummer.

Now, each chapter of my story starts with some notes where I indicate who drew any pictures it contains, thank people who helped me write that chapter (including my editor) and inform the reader if the chapter doesn't have any sex scenes so they can skip ahead to another chapter or stop reading if they wish. I was also thinking of indicating, if I have removed pictures of nudity or lovemaking, that the story with all the pictures will be available elsewhere. I know you can't include a link to another site, but what about someting where I mention another sire without liking to it or maybe something along these lines:

"Note: This chapter originally was to contain images of the characters making love. Due to Literotica's policy on such images, I have not included them here. If you wish to read the story with the images restored, you can find them in the version of the story available in several online bookstores. Just google (STORY NAME) and go from there.

Do you think that would be acceptable?

Literotica allows you to link to some online bookstores in your profile. Presumably, you could just say, "To read the illustrated version, click the Smashwords link in my profile."

I put stuff like that in my author bio (links to youtube playlists I've made to accompany my stories) then mention that there are links from my profile in an author's note at the top of the story.

Thank you both for your suggestions. They are very helpful. Once I figure out where my illustrated stories will be displayed, I'll simply list it in my profile and add a note about it at ehe beginning of every chapter. Simple!

Just be careful. By breaking your story up into chapter submissions, any references to other sites might be viewed as a "tease" to get readers to go there for the rest of it. That could get your story rejected here.

So, if I understand you correctly, you're saying that if I only have the story's first two chapters available on Literotica, I shouldn't have chapters 3 and so on available elsewhere yet. Is that correct?

Basically, yes.
