🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

I need to lose 17 pounds. And I know, its just a number, etc, but nothing fits right any more. Does anyone lift? Does lifting really burn calories like cardio does?

The burpee grind continues. I'm that much closer to my 150 in 15 min target (10 emom). Today, 120 in 11m 50s.
That, and I got my bike fixed (gear issue) so I can get back on that again. I have extra incentive now public transport is more expensive again!

Muscles burn calories more efficiently than fat does, so adding muscle makes your body work efficiently. You can 100% lose weight by focusing on weight training over cardio but cardio is a necessary function of an overall heart healthy life. Most trainers I know that are serious about weights recommend cardio 2x a week and weights 5x. Lots of weight training programs incorporate cardio bursts in them. Calorie burn isn’t measured by your Apple Watch or fit bit. It’s more scientific than that. I don’t trust those things.

Trying to figure out my workouts during treatment. I’m going to add peloton yoga even though I hate yoga. But I know it’ll have value. And trying to find new walking routes.

Totally intrigued by what Peloton Yoga is.... is it just a class? or do you do it on the bike? Details, please!

I ran again yesterday, and for me a long run, but I'm sure others would poo-poo it. And I'm heading back to the gym today to lift. I want my arms to be so sore that I feel it later when I wash my hair! :)

They finally figured out what is going on. I have aneurysm in my lower butt. That isn’t a serious thing.

It’s very rare less than .01% of Americans have this.

The cause of these things is odd. A bruise on your butt can get worse years later. My Dr. Said he treated one patient whose original injury was during the Vietnam War.

So this could have first happened while I was playing football - 50 years ago, or much more recently. Doesn’t really matter.

In my case it could have been made worse by blood thinners, which I started a bit over a year ago.

One of the things that has made this really hard to pin down is that the pain is on the side of my leg.

The aneurism in my butt presses on a nerve and causes pain in my leg.

I’ve seen three Orthopedic Surgeons over the last 3.5 months

It took a combination of MRI, Ultrasound and CT with contrast to pin this down.
I’m having surgery this Friday the 9th.

It’s an outpatient procedure done by Catheterization. Very light anesthesia, I do need to be driven back and forth.

I’ll find out about recovery and rehab once this is done.

Sorry to drone on about this.

I ran late getting to the gym tonight, so lifted upper body only. No lunges. No squats. 🙁

It's been a good stretch of continuous exercise days for me, and I'm down a couple more pounds so I'm super happy. I got out on the bike for the last 4 days, two hard rides, two easy recovery rides and am feeling good about my progress on getting up the hills in my neighborhood. Next week I start to commute to work, which I'm super excited about.
