Day 22: A song that uses a sample

Okay, so this song has tons of sampling, but it is just the example I wanted to point out to talk about the most used sample of all time. The Amen Break. It's 7 seconds that changed music history.

The Amen Break is a drum sample from the song "Amen, Brother" by the Winstons. It's first credited use was on I Desire by Salt N Pepa in 1986, but I am sure DJs were throwing it around before then.

I'm not going to ramble forever, but if you ever need a late night research project, you should look into the history of the Amen break.
I think the worst part is that the drummer that created it passed away broke and homeless, without knowing the history he had created.

Day 21: A song from a scary movie

My first thought was taken as were the most recognizable songs from the 2 best scary movies (The Exorcist and Halloween). So I have to go a little deeper than planned but sticking to the classics:

Jamie Lee starred in soooo many horror flicks when she was young. Love her!

Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper

Day 22: A song that uses a sample

I was torn between 2 here and going to go for one that samples one of the best bands of all-time and that I'm almost positive I've never posted.

MIA - Paper Planes (sampling Straight to Hell from The Clash)
