Day 21: A song from a scary movie

My kids love this song. Itโ€™s so fun to sing with them knowing they have no idea how freaking creepy it is to me ๐Ÿ˜‚

Tiptoe Through the Tulips - Tiny Tim

P.s. I was gonna share one of the scenes from Insidious but this video seemed creepier ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿคญ

Day 22: A song that uses a sample

The Next Episode - Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg
- And if you don't know where they sampled this from - it's from a song by David McCallum. McCallum happened to appear in 459 episodes of CSI. He played Donald Mallard for anyone who watched the show.

It was NCIS, not CSI. (Easy mistake to make.)

McCallum also starred in the 60's spy series The Man from U.N.C.L.E with Robert Vaughn, and was one of the British POW's in the film The Great Escape.

Yeah - mistake on my end. Didn't watch the show. Just fascinated this guy is the original artist who made the sound that I know so well from my childhood. I do know the actor from the Great Escape. That's the one where I've actually seen him!

Day 22: A song that uses a sample

Okay, so this song has tons of sampling, but it is just the example I wanted to point out to talk about the most used sample of all time. The Amen Break. It's 7 seconds that changed music history.

The Amen Break is a drum sample from the song "Amen, Brother" by the Winstons. It's first credited use was on I Desire by Salt N Pepa in 1986, but I am sure DJs were throwing it around before then.

I'm not going to ramble forever, but if you ever need a late night research project, you should look into the history of the Amen break.
I think the worst part is that the drummer that created it passed away broke and homeless, without knowing the history he had created.
