Back in the 1980's anal sex was was believed by many to be an inherently sinful and misogynist act and any woman who engaged in it was allowing herself to be victimized. You can blame this silly idea partly on the born again christian movement AND on emerging Woman's Studies programs at Liberal Arts colleges (i'm not denigrating such schools, I went to a great one and loved).
Thankfully, people eventually saw through the BS from evangelicals (due to the rise-and-fall of many "Leaders" due to sex scandals) AND the idea fizzled at progressive colleges as they focused more on Gay Rights and more and more gay men spoke openly about enjoying anal without feeling the least bit victimized by it. And nowadays, even straight men (like me) admit to enjoying being pegged without any sense of being victimized by the act (or feminized).
It's just another orifice, people - there's nothing "sacred" about it!! Thankfully, your generation understands this and sees anal sex as no more "wrong" than a BJ, titty fuck, or even a handjob.
I can't remember where I read it, but a long time ago I learnt that it was pretty normal in Victorian times, even though it carried a severe penalty officially. There wasn't even that much homophobia apparently. Maybe the world is going full circle.
