2024 First Presidential Debate Thread: June 27th

I heard someone mention that Biden would struggle to get a job as Greeter at Walmart, I have to agree on the basis of that dismal performance. He's gone rapidly downhill since a few months back.

Trump didn't impress much more; blatant lies that his followers won't care about, repetition that he'll only accept any result that shows he won. His followers won't care about that either.

Quite how the GOP has morphed into a party where their candidate is funded by Moscow due to repeated bankruptcies and frauds in the US, but they don't care, is astounding. They should prefer a rattlesnake to the lying fraudster insurrectionist sex offender felon.

2 minutes of focused google-fu would do you a lot more good than fucking yourself with a gigantic steel cactus again. Of course it won't feel as good as the cactus but at least you won't be a drooling idiot when its over.

Hey dumb fuck, find where Biden said he would quadruple taxes for everyone.

Well, I guess it can be said that trump didn’t win, but Biden lost.
Yep. Biden justified the fears on his age-related condition despite being a caring, result-producing experienced administrator with a competent staff around him and Trump confirmed that he is a self-obsessed wall-to-wall liar, con man, felon, rapist, and coup plotter whose White House staff is now ditching as a danger to the nation.

Both lost the debate. But the debate didn't change what the rational choice is.

The best part of the entire debate is that the leftist deomcrats keep screaming Trump is deranged, dangerous, a threat to democracy, etc, etc.

And if they actually believed that, here is their top choice candidate to fight him.

Perhaps they's have better luck if they didn't actually pick a candidate that does accurately represent the mental, uh, capacity of their voting block. 🤣🤣🤣

How embarrassing for Trump.

The right is really afraid of Joe Biden

Donald Trump delivered 90 minutes of lies on Thursday, spreading crazy conspiracy theories about babies being aborted after birth, lies about his felony conviction, and brazen falsehoods about drug costs, taxes, and Social Security.

A stream of lies: 5 of Trump’s biggest lies in the presidential debate

The Conspiracy Nut Clown Show Party candidate satisfied his lunatic supporters by spewing nonsense throughout the debate.

Yup, I'm sure Trump is feeling very embarassed right now. 🤣🤣
He should. This is the guy who crushed him in the 2020 election, and Trump can’t pull away from a dead heat in the polls with?
Trump majorly stepped on his dick last night.

Right. But this performance last night means they'll have a "B..b..but..." reference point that they shouldn't have had. They got a gift the Dems had no reason or excuse to give them.

For once they'll have real footage instead of a deep fake. Heh.

They'll still whine either way.

i was horrified last night at how pale and corpse-like President Biden appeared, leaving me thinking he must have spent the last week at Camp David really sick in bed... and then i watched this morning and noticed various moments when the lights weren't so terribly bright on him and he looked pink and just not as tanned as usual.

for most of the debate, the lights made felon trump look a normal shade instead of orange, and President Biden white as a sheet with black eyes.

i'm not saying that was a deliberate 'thing', but it certainly made felon trump look less like a fat satsuma than normal and made President Biden appear deathly sick... and that, coupled with his stricken look at all the lies pouring from the obscene one's lips, worked with his quiet, hoarse voice to make him appear way too frail to be considered a presidential candidate.

if i'd not noticed the lighting changes this morning, i would still be labouring under that visual impression of President Biden simply being too ill and old to do the job.

Define "better choice". A shit sandwich on white or wheat is still a shit sandwich. Non of the above or any other candidate is an option, check the ballot for the latter option. People saying there is only two optiins is why the uniparty runs people like this. We are fucked either way, but deep down you must know that.
Bullshit. Biden has a great record of accomplishment for the greater citizenry in what he has done in office already.

Trump is being dumped on by nearly everyone who ever worked for the congenital liar, con man, failed businessman, convicted and multiply indicted felon, rapist, and attempted coupist.

There most definitely is a better choice here.

Biden didn't look good, but honestly there is very little about being president that debate skills really are important for. Trump looked better except he still constantly lied and there is a pretty good chunk of the job of president where being a pathological liar is very bad.

We have a Party Convention to deal with situations like this. Leading candidates sometimes have a major health or legal crisis. In those situations, the Democrats should not do what the Republicans are doing right now, which is to double down on a candidate that's experiencing such a crisis.

Let's avoid doubling down and start examining the leading candidates. We face so many challenges in the world. Let's get a candidate who has the vigor to take on these challenges and also boost down-ballot candidates.

Take heart, Democrats! Don't do what the Republicans are doing.

What has President Biden got to do with how deranged, dangerous and a threat to democracy Schitzinpants is?

Yeah he is.
I was going to argue this point, because there's no way anyone would laughably claim Biden is 'sharp as a tack', especially after last night's performance.

But I took a step back, and realized that yes, from the perspective of a leftist/democrat such as yourself, Biden is sharp as a tack. Arguably Biden may appear to be an intellectual giant in your eyes.

So I stand corrected. When you claim Biden is 'sharp as a tack', you actually honestly believe it.

Lili Loofbourow, a reporter, had this to say in her article:

"Having faulted Pelosi for foolishly rejecting his prescient offer of military aid to deal with the rioters (there is, of course, no record of any such offer), he attacked Joe Biden for destroying their lives:

“What they’ve done to some people that are so innocent, you ought to be ashamed of yourself, what you have done, how you’ve destroyed the lives of so many people.” At another point, he suggested that the rioters were “ushered in by the police.”

"It wouldn’t be easy to pithily point out, in the minute allotted, how those three accounts don’t square. (Do you start with the Pelosi? The troops offer?) And it wouldn’t matter if you did; Trump would have already moved on, since he doesn’t much care about what he says and knows it’s not true.

"Effectively countering that technique probably requires some combination of quick thinking, verbal dexterity, brilliant stagecraft and (to avoid accusations of pedantry) humor. Plus total mastery of your own narrative — and an ability to pivot back to it quickly, so the public hear (sic) whatever it is you want to actually say. It’s not a fair ask, but Biden more or less managed it in 2020."

She wrote a fair assessment.
