I wouldn't quite agree with that. I'd say he came across as a pathological liar to an informed and unbiased person, but that doesn't describe the majority of those watching. The crucial point isn't whether a Presidential candidate in a debate lies but whether their opponent is able to expose them as liars, and I would say Biden did a piss-poor job of that. Biden himself has issues with the truth so he's not the best opponent to call Trump a liar.

I won't vote for Trump but I thought he was the clear winner of this debate. He won within the first five minutes, and the rest was just playing out the time.

Technically, yes. But that never matters in Presidential debates. Appearances matter. And it's hard to compare, because HRC is far, far more intelligent and knowledgeable than either of the men who debated today. That didn't matter, come election time. I don't think it will this time, either.

I don't agree. It's Biden's job to call out his opponent, not the moderators' job.

I thought this debate was well handled. The debaters were not allowed to talk over one another, so they were better behaved than in the past. When a candidate didn't answer a question, they would follow up and repeat the question, letting the audience know that the candidate wasn't responsive but not pushing the issue. The questions asked were appropriate, topical, and well-phrased.

Biden missed so many opportunities.

He could have called Trump the “the draft dodging coward” that he is.

When Trump alluded to the clean air record that was set during his administration Biden could have pointed out how that was during Covid when traffic was at its lowest in recent history. He could have pointed out how that same cleanliness is attainable by shifting to EVs.

Biden could have pointed out how he isn’t involved in any of Trump’s prosecutions and isn’t interfering with the DOJ - evidenced by Hunter’s prosecution.

Biden could have pointed out how much of Trump’s administration were convicted for various crimes during Trump’s presidency, and mentioned how many of his own administration Trump fired.

The optics for Biden were miserable while Trump’s supporters will take Trump’s lies as fact.

Really, the most essential job that Biden had in this debate was to not look and sound old and confused.
He looked and sounded old and confused.
Trump did not make any more sense than Biden, but he looked alive and vigorous spouting his nonsense.

Being President for four years is a very difficult job. You have to be in good health to do this job effectively, even when you have a cold.

Biden did not look healthy. He and his spouse need to be honest about this. If they are, then some sort of resolution will result. If they try to cover it up, then his Presidential campaign and down-ballot campaigns for the Democrats will take a significant hit.

Before the debate, the right set things up:
- Joe will take drugs - why won't he take a drug test
- CNN will feed Biden the questions
- Tapper and Bash will rig the questions or interfere to help Biden
- Trump was forced to accept rules that favor Biden

And look how the narrative has shifted today.

- This was always the plan
- They wanted him to fail
- They're setting things up to shift to a new candidage

Reality means nothing.
