And I’m not defending those who wear Birks and socks. I’m just saying that judging someone who wears socks with their Birks is not getting to the root of the problem. The root of the bad decision making is most obvious with the awful shoes.

It would be like complaining someone because someone committed petty theft during a murder. The petty theft seems a bit irrelevant when murder is on the table. In this clever analogy, the socks are the petty theft and the Birks are the murder. They are a murder on fashion.
