Israel started it 1948, when they expelled over 700,000 Palestinians from their land as Israel was founded (out of a non-Jewish population in Palestine at the time of 1.2 million), and also before that with Zionist terrorism in Palestine. All the famous leaders of Israel in the following decades were terrorists in the 1945-1948 period in particular, in organizations like the Irgun and the Stern Gang, violence directed against the British forces as well (who ran the British Mandate of Palestine), not just against the Palestinians. Another ridiculous thing is what you said with that quote, acting like what happened on October 7 isn't connected to the decades of Israel oppression against the Palestinian population, saying that Israel didn't start it.
Of course, similar crimes were committed in America, against the Red Indian native population, as the cowboys sought coast to coast domination. Some of it was diseases of course, brought over by those of European descent, which the natives had no resistance too.
The "two state solution" was a sham all along. Israel never intended it, but they have made it impossible anyway with their continue theft of West Bank land. The "two state solution" was basically co-opting some Palestinian leaders (i.e. traitors) into doing the dirty of work of Israel in policing the Palestinian population, with the creation of the "Palestinian Authority". That's what the Oslo Accords were for Israel, not a chance for peace, to allow a Palestinian state, but a way of dividing the Palestinians, from leaders to masses, from Gaza to West Bank, from Fatah to Hamas. Netanyahu has scarcely denied encouraging Hamas as a counterweight against Fatah.

Israel always needs a real or imagined outside threat to its existence, followed by a monstrous imperialist occupying power then playing the victim against the Palestinians that they've stolen land from, food, water often denied, houses bulldozed. They've ordered hospitals(!) in much of Gaza to evacuate. I mean, how sick is that?
Nothing stays fixed for all time. Everything moves, changes and evolves. US imperialism in 2003 was seemingly so powerful that it thought that it could click its fingers and do whatever it wanted across the world at the time that the Iraq War began. Look at them now, overstretched, weak and pathetic, always making mistakes, yet still the biggest imperialist power in the world, a bit like 4th and 5th century AD Rome. Biden's mental state sums up the current state of US imperialism in 2023.

The "Palestinians" do not exist as a unique race, religious, linguistic, or cultural entity. For that reason 'genocide' is a definition that is misapplied. They are a political construct that is unified by one guiding doctrine, Kill the Jews. They have demonstrated their adherence to that doctrine time and time again in word and deed.
