People expect text to be quoted in the process of replies, so that’s not an argument I would make. There’s no good reason to quote a photo. The etiquette of not quoting photos seems to have developed for two main reasons. The first is being considerate to the owner of the photo. The second, which is less of a problem since the software update, is being considerate to the readers by not making them scroll through pages of the same photos. This used to be quite annoying, especially when people who don’t know how to resize their photos would post huge images. The new software compresses quoted material, so this is less of an issue now.

Honestly...I think it is our own responsibility, not someone else's, to make sure that the pictures we want to share can be removed on our own if we no longer want them here.

And that’s why I only show my photos as attachments. I can delete them whenever I choose, and they don’t get quoted along with my text.

I guess it comes down to people feeling comfortable.
All I'm trying to do is create a place where people feel safe to post pics. There are some people who post in here who don't post pics elsewhere for whatever reason, and if not quoting pics makes them feel more comfortable, then I have no issue with that
