The new football thread

Very lucky. I really follow the game far more from the backside...from a GM prospective. I love drafts. I love making the money work. Or watching how coaching philosophies change through a game or season.

Rodgers is done for the season. This really means they need to go trade for a QB.
who are you thinking?

who are you thinking?
Good morning. I don't know who is out there available. None of them are great choices...but there are two with experience...Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan.. Both in my opinion would be better than Wilson. The problem now....is Nathaniel Hackett. Look at his history of coaching. He refuses to adapt his play calling to the talent he has. This is what makes the 49ers a force. I do not think Purty is an exceptional QB. But he doesn't make mistakes. He makes the play called. And they rely on ground gained after the catch. This is exactly what the Jets must become
I would go after Wentz. But I gotta listen to the pundits to see who else is available. The Jets defense is real

The Jets go into Dallas next week. Dallas is a way better team. They will win. But watching both defenses destroy the opposing offenses will be fun. This game may have zero offensive touchdowns.

Finally saw the slowed down video of the calf cavitation. This is without a doubt a career ending Achilles injury for man his age. I am not a Rodgers fan. In fact, other than hating a serial sexual predator...Aaron is next in line for me. But I am saddened for it to end this way.

So I haven't heard any name that is viable beyond the two I gave...Wentz and Ryan. Yes...there is Foles...Cam...RG3...none of these helps the team. Only Wentz and Ryan have the right attitude...willing to be a cog and not the leader

The pundits are basically saying it is now Wilson's job...and they are looking for a backup. But did you see him panicking last night? I did. A lot. He isn't good enough to get the Jets to the playoffs.

Let me rephrase that...he isn't good enough with Nathaniel Hackett calling plays. I have said I really like what happens behind the scene. This is a perfect example of why you never ever ever give a player a say about other players and coaching. You make decisions based on what is best for the team and that isn't just in the moment of the present. Hackett is a horrible leader. He is a horrible play caller. He has never shown he is capable of calling plays to the talent he has. He tries to force players to his schemes. That is a failure waiting to happen. Look at last year...did the Broncos ever score more than 16 points? Why? I think the season can be saved for the Jets. It isn't about getting a replacement QB. It is about getting a new offensive coordinator. But I know....that will never happen. But it should.

I cannot, cannot believe it and please do allow me to boost but my beloved NY Jets are actually undefeated ATM 🤣

It is official. Torn Achilles.

The next few weeks will be very interesting. If you watched Greeny this morning...he brought in Tannenbaum to talk about this from a GM perspective...and of course the players hated what he had to say. But he is right.

The question is 1) Do you feel this is a SuperBowl team? Teams...only remain at that level for a year...maybe two...because of the salary cap. If the answer is yes...then the next question

2) Do you feel Zach Wilson is a Super Bowl QB?

One game ago...the answer was no. Decidedly no. So what has changed in one game to change this view? Anyone that is objective...can watch the film...and you do not see a QB in control. But one that was struggling.

If this is a Super Bowl team...they have to go get someone. Wilson is not enough. This is a no Brainerd.

But here is the bigger picture...when do you draft for the future? You saw how Rodgers behaved at GB when they did. You not gonna draft on a hope a 40 yr old can overcome a rehab 99% his age can't? This is such a complicated issue. Hard knocks should be interesting

Wilson looks like a little kid running around out there playing with a bunch of grown men lol
Bills giftwrapped that win last night,4 turnovers and bad special teams play, that won't happen every week.

I saw him run backwards 30 fucking yards before wildly throwing it away...and not out of bounds. He panics

Elite team games I think are critical:

Chiefs at Jaguars. Look out Chiefs...this may be my upset game of the week

49ers at Rams. This should be a slugfest. I thought the Rams were in reset mode?

Ravens at Bengals. I love Divisional games. It is very possible the kitty doesn't go meow

Hey NFL...

You essentially remove kickoff returns for "safety" and they became boring

So...if you really care about safety...why the fuck do we still have artificial turf? Or playing on short weeks (Thursday night games)

It’s all about the almighty dollar @Dribble Artificial turf is cheaper and the kickoff rule was put in place to make the lawyers happy about all of the concussions 🤔

So the Jets just threw their year away. They are officially saying they will not seek outside help. The Cowboys are going to tee off next week and show the World how stupid a decision this is. There has been no improvement in Wilson's skillset. I understand they don't want to hurt the kid's ego. But he fucking sucked donkey dicks last year...enough so they sought a new QB and a new coach for that new QB. What has "magically" changed?

Who do you got after the Cowboys? The Patriots. Did you see how well they played defense last week? Surprise team of the week. Who do you got then? Chiefs. Sorry. You are fucked

It is super huge news.

Tonight, I will make my Thursday night game prediction. The injury list is long already for both teams. I don't think that will change my prediction...but it will definitely impact anyone that bets...which I don't.
