I don’t think it’s offensive; just a lot of assumptions based on minimal data. Assuming the forum statistics are accurate, Lit supposedly has over 2 million users. There’s maybe a few hundred registered users online at any time and at least as many unregistered “guests.” Two of my longest relationships here were with women with a combined 6 posts. The first one was before I signed up for an account. She made one post with her Kik, I messaged her there and didn’t visit this site again for many months.

The point is that the room looks far different through a keyhole than an open door. Many people choose not to draw attention to themselves and craft their own experience, often narrowly.

Your conclusions may very well be accurate but I think they’re based on a minuscule sample size of this site. I don’t think my personal, albeit anecdotal, experience is consistent with them.

Your take is rather accurate. Indeed, the sample size is based on having a very small N. That’s much preferable to a very small D, however.

I’m always really intrigued by these stories of people who meet others who have no or very low post counts. I’ve just never considered that in terms of engaging in conversation with someone here. Thanks for sharing that story, by the way. That’s cool to hear.

And that’s a fair point about listers who don’t like to draw attention to themselves. Not everyone has mastered the art of subtlety as I have. I’ve even heard that some people are not fans of threads with user’s names in the title.
