Geeks, Nerds, Enthusiasts...share your thoughts with me!

The best thing about early access games is that there isn't a lot of content in the first release so you can nearly 100% it quite quickly...now just to apply that dedication to all the AAA releases I have languishing in my library....

My thing is that I love stories. I love playing RPGs to work through a story and I totally blame the Goosebumps "choose your own adventure" books from when I was younger.

I'm curious, what is your favourite genre and why? (Books/games/film...whatever you fancy)

For games, it's a pretty tough choice. I play pretty much anything that isn't sports simulators. But if I had to pick, gun to my head, probably RPGs. I like the world building, being immersed in the characters, and also creating/building a character/party to adventure with. I also like games where choices matter and RPGs are the go-to for that. Choices that not only affect combat, but the story too. Very, very few RPGs get choice versus consequence right. However, I can also enjoy a RPG with a fully linear story as well, like most JRPGs (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Suikoden, Breath Of Fire, Lunar, Chrono Trigger, etc). The darker the story, settling, characters, the better. But that's just my personal taste in most entertainment. Things like Skyrim, Dragon Age: Origins, Divinity Original Sin, Diablo, Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain, Vampire The Masquerade, The Darkest Dungeon.

I don't have the time to play games anymore. I played board games with my kids and Monopoly is a favorite. Fits all in the family. Computer games i use to play either puzzle games like Myst and Riven or car simulators. Myst was a big favorite!
When it comes to films I like a good story more than a genre. I enjoy The Beguiled as well as Pulp Fiction or an old film noir.

Going to stand (and die) on my nerd companion cube but Firefly is crap and I can totally see why it got canned.

There is far far better Scifi out there...

Hey all, I hope you're well?

I've been unwinding from a hectic week with a mixture of No Man's Sky and Moonglow Bay. Two very different games but I found that both have a certain element that lets me forget the world a bit.

How do you like to forget the world a bit and unwind?

Sometimes Call of Duty. Had lately been on a Diablo Immortal kick.

Been playing Overwatch 2 while I wait for Gotham Knights to drop. Then God of War: Ragnarok which shall be my next obsession.

We can never be friends, as you have no soul. :p

I disagree. Not the best sci-fi ever, but brilliant at what it is and shamefully killed before it's time.

Yes there is better sci-fi but I disagree that Firefly is crap.

I really enjoyed it for what it was, as I did with FarScape and Lexx 😊

Farscape is my favorite sci-fi show of all time. It does drama, comedy, tragedy. It's laugh out loud funny, off the walls zany and yet can be so heartfelt it brings you to tears.

Also, Claudia Black. I would watch that woman in ANYTHING.

Overwatch 2 has been decently fun. I like Orisa a lot right now

Question for the folks who’ve been playing Overwatch 2, has everything stabilized? I was hearing a lot about how it had a pretty rough launch and folks were having a hard time getting into games. It’s been YEARS since I’ve played but I’m a little curious to play it again.

I agree. It's funny because I absolutely loathed playing her prior. (Winston/Ball main in OW1.)

I'm also enjoying JunkerQueen a lot, though she isn't as strong. And either my Dva pkay has gotten a lot better or she's really good right now, because I'm absolutely crushing with her.

I feel like it's usually like this with hyped games at launch. I remember launch day for Lost Ark and people were queuing for hours. Also same with Splatoon 2 for a couple of days.

Anyway, its stabilized for sure. Takes me probably a minute tops to get into a game. I probably wouldnt play over wifi but hard wired works great, no issues.

Haven't had any problems this week at all, seems much improved.

Launch was a complete debacle. Couldn't get into servers at all, crazy queue times.

You should try it out. Mileage will vary, but I generally prefer all the changes they have made so far. Well, except Sombra. She's busted powerful. But the base changes, 5v5 and such are really fun.

Yeah.agree on Dva. I absolutely hate Mei though and she was my favorite in 1. So boo to that.

I have heard similar from other Mei players. That always sucks. I don't play damage heroes so a lot of that slips past me.

No Man Sky is a good escape. I still fall back into minecraft from time to time just for when I need pure sandbox.

Played through Cult of the Lamb recently and thoroughly enjoyed it.
