Geeks, Nerds, Enthusiasts...share your thoughts with me!

Admittedly, I have fever fandoms than a lot of folks here. That said, I am looking forward to the The Last of Us series that’s coming up on HBO. I *loved* the first game, and bought it almost entirely on the teasers and trailers. And, I appreciated the second game, even if a bunch of people hated the story.

So, I’m excited to see the trailers for it, but it’s a hell of an interesting concept.
Is that the game where you play the character whose dad was killed and it switches?

Well, the first one starts with a global disease outbreak, where the playable character’s daughter is killed, and you then, 20 years later, have to shepherd a teenage girl across the country to, ostensibly, have a chance to save humanity. Obviously, a somewhat parental bond develops during the game.

The sequel picks up a few years after that, and the original playable character dies (there’s no way to avoid this), and you play as the teenager (almost 20 now). It’s dark as hell.

Not sure this fits the theme of the thread, but there's an amazing scifi novel that is being made into a movie I am VERY much looking forward to. The book was incredible. It was written by Andy Weir (the man that wrote, "The Martian").

Consider giving "Project Hail Mary" a read. Everyone I've talked to about the book literally couldn't put it down.
That is a great book. I’m sure the movie will disappoint.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone (as Rocky, if you can believe that!) will be in it. They did say they would be taking a few liberties with the story, so you might be right about the movie. Rocky was an amazing charcter...be a shame to NOT have the same type of character...

My list of fandoms knows no bounds. I could go on for days.

That being said, I'm really digging the Locked Tomb book series and the fanbase/fanart it has inspired

It's a shame that Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor is going to be regarded as an experiment that failed rather than a genuinely good actress saddled with awful writing.
Agree with you! She had awful writing.

Hello

Well I do love the Wheel of Time books, I listen to them while I'm at work on you tube.

A good 3 book series if Brent Weeks Darkness trilogy, I am also a fan of the RA Salavator Dritz Do'Urden series as well as his Cleric Quintet. Followed by the DragonLance series by Weis and Hickman.

I play more TTRPGs then regular video games, but if I do play a video game it's Borserlands 3, Animal Crossing or the last three Pokémon games.

I am also reading the Marvel Comics Alpha Flight and The Original Champions series

Come back and let us know what you think. I'm going to devour the rest of her books!!
I've managed chapter 1 and I really relate to the whole thing. It's described how I've been feeling these last few months and I'm excited to keep reading 😍

Did anyone else like Legend of the Seeker? I think about that show far too much.

Yes but did you forget about it? I forgot about the GamePass I have 🫣
Sometimes I do forget lol and especially about the game pass...

To be fair, I feel many aspects of modern gaming are forgettable. They certainly don’t make them like they used to. A lot of my favorite franchises have lost touch of what made them special. It saddens me.

I'm finding the opposite and having to come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to experience everything I want to.

Do you mind sharing an example of something that has lost it's allure for you?

For me, it's mostly an interest issue. I think the consoles are great today, I just don't have as much interest in it as I once did. I'll play my couple of games for a few weeks, then not play for a couple months (thus forgetting I even have the system). I'll always like video games but it's not like when I was in high school pulling all-nighters.

It's been pointed out that I've not really spoken about games since the first post, so here goes:

I have too many games 🤦🏼‍♀️

Currently actively playing:
Stardew Valley
The Sims 4
Disney's Dreamlight Valley
Terraria
Civilization 6

I pick the game depending on my energy levels as I've been struggling with exhaustion these last few...months now.

I have started, so I will finish at some point, probably:
The Witcher
A Plague Tale
My Time at Portia
Nobody Saves the World
....

There are too many to remember but these are what I can remember, so will start with these I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the best anime since Cowboy Bebop and it is not even close. Along with Castlevania is pretty much the best gaming adaptation I've seen.

As for things to play. Shame or not, I am kind of really looking forward to Overwatch 2. Which shouldn't be even called 2 but greedy game company owners have yachts to buy.

Btw, this year I finished The Wheel of Time (only Jordan's books, I am yet to start the final 3, which were written by Sanderson). And if the first 2 books are budget Lord of the Rings, after that this becomes quite the enjoyable and epic read truly deserving of its legendary status. Those things are massive, the characters memorable and their development is nothing short of masterful. Where it breaks is the fact the text tends to be basic at times but in each book there are chapters where Jordan is really inspired and you can tell.
