Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I had an AV myself, I found myself getting outside a couple of MeisterSuds with a work colleague. Never explained why I photographed the beer mat...She’s welcome to the picture! (Assuming you mean @AmberLGreen)

My first experience with wasabi was painful. I ordered a plate of yakisoba in a restaurant off-base, and they served it on this large platter with a little dime-sized dollop of wasabi AND Japanese mustard. I'd never had either, so being the stupid Gaijin that I am, I just mixed them right into the noodles. About four bites later...I’ve never had any experiences with wasabi… but plenty with popcorn![]()

Okay, so wasabi is HOT, should that be my takeaway from this?Similar except mine was in Japan Air and I thought I might need CPR mid flight. I was 19 and I’ve never been able to eat wasabi since.
I grew up on jalapeno and chili peppers. Japanese mustard is intensely, painfully hot -- even more than wasabi -- but they're both so concentrated that you really want to spread them around carefully. Eventually I learned to appreciate it.Okay, so wasabi is HOT, should that be my takeaway from this?
I was about to type “I’ve never tried mustard“ then I realised that’s probably a given, when I revealed trying my first cookie in 2014I grew up on jalapeno and chili peppers. Those two things are really hot, but most Japanese cuisine isn't.I was about to type “I’ve never tried mustard“ then I realised that’s probably a given, when I revealed trying my first cookie in 2014So Japanese mustard is more intense than other types? I’ve never tried Japanese food, and now I think I will be even more hesitant

The first time I had sushi I thought wasabi was some kind of avocado paste or something. Picked it up and put it all in my mouth. Realized very quickly that I had made a huge mistake. I quietly wiped it off my tongue onto my napkin & drank my entire glass of water. I was hoping nobody would notice, but my face turned bright red.My first experience with wasabi was painful. May I suggest being careful about putting unfamiliar things in your mouth? The first time I had sushi I thought wasabi was some kind of avocado paste or something.
