I did not argue that they did. I think this time off has done damage to the children that will last well into their adult hoods and probably struck the higher end children harder than the younger students. This is TERRIBLE for the children.

That's not YOUR tax money unless you're in Chicago. Why are you so passionate about this? I wish teachers nationwide would do this but too many are cowards.

They do not have cushy jobs, they have jobs that are harder than the vast majority of people do. They are grossly underpaid which is part of the problem with pulling in better teachers. No sane person with that level of education would dare be a teacher. There are easier ways to make more money. The only reason the majority do their jobs is because they love their jobs. You are basically claiming, really the same thing corporate America says. "You aren't people, you are slaves."

You don't care about their health, you don't care about their lives or their families or the families of the students. Not the bus drivers not even the overall economy.

CHICAGO - Chicago Mayor*Lori Lightfoot warned that she will take action against teachers who refuse to show up to school today after*a union voted against in-person learning.

The mayor was quick to respond after Tuesday’s vote, in which 73% of the Chicago Teachers Union said they wanted to go back to remote classes until the current spike in COVID-19 cases "substantially subsides." The vote resulted in classes being canceled on Wednesday. In response, Lightfoot said teachers who do not show up at school Wednesday will lose pay, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to the union, Lightfoot is doing more than just withholding pay.

"Mayor Lightfoot has started locking Chicago public school teachers and staff out of their Google Classrooms," the union tweeted early Wednesday morning, hours after it had said "all members will log in remotely to work."
