On Monday morning, a mid-level staff member, who does not regularly have contact with the President, received a positive result for a COVID-19 test. Three days earlier, on Friday, that staff member had spent approximately 30 minutes in proximity to the President on Air Force One, on the way from Orange, South Carolina to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This staff member is fully vaccinated and boosted, and tested negative prior to boarding Air Force One, as is required for everyone traveling with the President. This staff member did not begin to experience symptoms until Sunday, and was tested on Monday. Others on Air Force One who were in close contact with this staff member are being contacted and will be advised to get tested per CDC guidance.

Oops. Apparently, even the boosted and tested are a cause for concern.

I have put them in another thread. But those dying from Covid in the UK recently have been more than half (and that is increasing) that were unvaccinated.

Those that were vaccinated and are dying seem to be older people with underlying health conditions, while the deaths of the unvaccinated have been much younger.

No. But unvaccinated younger people are more usually those who do NOT have underlying health conditions, because in the UK if they have those conditions they would have been offered and accepted vaccination much earlier than their uncompromised peers.

Yesterday's NHS figures show that between 80% and 90% of those needing hospital care in the UK are currently unvaccinated younger adults. A more accurate figure, maybe 80 something % might be available tomorrow.

As I said above: Younger people with underlying medical conditions are much more likely to be vaccinated.

Having an underlying medical condition does not mean they are stupid (at least in the UK).

The number of UK people who have now had a third (booster) jab is more than half of the UK population in the age range to have vaccines. We are close to administering a million booster jabs a day (and exceeded that on Saturday). We are also giving first and second jabs for those who haven't had them yet, and for many of those who have not had the booster the time since their second jab is too short.
