One of the definitions of riot is: A violent disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled for a common purpose.

That does seem to be pretty on the mark.

I've probably said it here before, but it is worth repeating: Back when I started in the news biz, the AP was the standard. If one of your stories was picked up and went out on the wire, you could bet there was not one speck of opinion in it, even unintended.
A lot has changed since then.
The editors are no longer the hard-nosed get-the-facts-right guys. They are the ones who OK factless stories about global warming, change the Stylebook so Black is capitalized, and don't assign stories or miss the gist of them when they don't meet the narrative.

Probably not but when all the law enforcement and local government have said 90%+ are non violent and that of the violence some are agitators and some are just plain criminals who don't give a shit one way or the other but have been seen casing businesses where marches are set to happen and looting.

I live in a country that in the first group of fixes to its national laws said you have an absolute right to fuck shit up if your government doesn't serve you. If treason and war are appropriate for minor taxes to pay for a war that was literally spent protecting your ass (unlike virtually any war in the last century) then being forced to fight in those wars, not given equal rights, being killed regularly, given fewer economic and educational opportunities to this very day don't constitute burning anything flammable down you really need to check your fucking privelige.
