Watching the mob tear down all these statues is not something that makes me cheer. They need to be removed as a part of our public policy, not mob rule.

I hope all those involved will calm down, and get involved and start voting and getting the GOP and The Democrats all out of office and out of power.

We have a reasonably unique ability to have a "bloodless coup" every four years by voting for a POTUS, but even more so getting the alt-Reich and the corporate boot lickers out of office from dog catcher on up is the real answer.

The Mob needs to Vote.

The mob in 1968 gave us Nixon.

More likely than not, this incarnation of your mob will return Trump to office.

It's always your mob. Democrats are aptly named. You favor mob rule, which is what democracy is.

Mobs are always on your side. You've given up on the night rides and the cross burnings but it is still about trying to intimidate the electorate.

You are correct, it's ineffective.

Tone policing is a characteristic of white supremacy culture. And it’s not a mob. It’s a movement.

The "mob" is going to vote.

The "mob" is also going to tear down racist statues after asking politely for them to be removed from public squares for fifty years.

The "mobs" intensity has spurred more action to address eliminating racist symbols from society than all the passive legislative efforts combined. Statues are coming down, NASCAR is banning the confederate flag, the military is open to removing slave owners names from its bases, and come November Trump will be removed from the Whitehouse.

It's unfortunate, but "mob" action was necessary because "civilized" methods weren't being productive.

Hopefully when it comes time to address classism, people will have learned the lesson.

No justice, no peace.

You cannot politely ask - you have to do the hard work. Recruit candidates, give time, run campaigns, get elected, then fight it out in city council chambers and state house floors. Again and again year after year.

The fascists have been doing it since the 1980s when the Left declared victory and went home. It is not easy.

And yes, the issue at the root of all this is class.

People shouldn't have to constantly jump through legislative hoops to achieve just outcomes in society. If elected officials from either party can't compromise on policies that even remotely achieve fairness, the "mob" is a reasonable response to their failure.

The status quo has got to go. How society got to a point where a few people can control more wealth than the workers who facilitate that wealth is beyond me.

There should definitely be a law that employee wages must go up proportionately to their employers. Workers should also receive stock options in proportion to the CEO.

Here, several local councils are discussing the removal of statues. IMO, public art should be uplifting, poignant, inspiring. Statues to celebrate people who committed atrocities belong in museums. How would you feel about Germany having Hitler statues in the streets?

I agree but "should"has nothing to do with it. The sky is blue. Everyone dies. And people have to constantly jump through legislative hoops to achieve just outcomes in society. That is just the way it is and nothing can change it.

The DCCC Democrats have to go. The GOP has to go. A lot of the power in America need to be shifted back to the people but that is what a representative government is all about. Reforms have to be made that include correcting the tyranny of the minority in the Senate. that is going to take a huge effort and the accumulation of many thousands of elected seats across the country.

I would like that law too, but there are no amount of statues to tear down to get it. That is only coming with the taking of power through the ballot box. And when that starts to happen the fight will REALLY begin. This is just the prelude. if class really becomes he issues in America a lot will change.

I am just saying I have seen this too many times and it does not translate to candidates running and more people voting - and it is a crying shame. I hope they do. The satisfaction of watching the crackers having to take down the statue themselves is infinitely sweeter that pulling it down in frustration.

^and there you gave it. Nicely done tying it back into the Democrats love of mobocracy.

The Senate exists to prevent you in the mob from using the tyranny of the majority to run roughshod over the States.

Here's an idea: how about you lefty pukes finally agree that the constitution's clear language about the FEDS clearly enumerated narrow list of powers and responsibilities, and you handle *your* States business as you see fit, and quit telling other people in other States how they should live?

Unfortunately, after centuries of trying to perfect justice in America through legislation, it seems there is always just enough votes to block any meaningful reforms on GROSS wealth disparities between workers and CEOs, as well as other areas of the economy, where essential workers are not compensated fairly in relation to non-essential workers. Do I trust that elected officials won't be bought off or threatened into caving to the wealthy??? Look what happened when Obama tried to end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. The republicans threatened to cut social programs and Obama caved.

Sometimes the "mob" is needed because while one person can be bought off or intimidated into backing off from carrying through on promises of reform, the "mob" cannot. The only way the "mob" can be appeased is by a tangible concession that improves their daily lives. Legal justice is preferable, but in lieu of that, "mob" justice is inevitable.
