Hey all! I’ve been listening to A LOT of 70s music for the past few weeks and have discovered a lot of the songs unlock memories in my head from when I was a kid. Since music can have almost as great an effect on your memory as smells, it only makes sense that music can open your mind’s eye pretty wide. What about you guys? Do any old songs take you back to bring a kid?

First up “You Make Me Feel Brand New” and “You Are Everything” by The Stylistics, a pair of tunes that got heavy rotation on the radio (youngsters, ask your parents) when I was a youngster.

Christmas 1972 was when I got my own radio for the first time, and the songs that were out at that time and right afterwards really stuck in my memory. Two of the really big hits of the winter of 1972-73 were "Me and Mrs. Jones" and "You're So Vain," which impressed upon me that the world of adult emotions was much more complicated than I had imagined from observing my parents.

Almost any top 40 song from the 70's will take me back to family car rides or mom or my older brother listening to whatever. Nice memories usually.

“Me and Mrs. Jones” is the song I wake up to every morning. LOL! It’s a great song and it, along with others, takes me back to the summers I spent with my sister in Florida. Great times indeed!!

Howard Jones' "No One is to Blame"

or "Love Comes Walking In" by Van Halen bro.

Nights In White Satin - Moody Blues

Backseat of the car memories...

Heard another couple today that did it for me. “Joy To The World” by Three Dog Night and “Back Stabbers” by The O’Jays. A time when music was actually—-musical.
