Donald Trump’s “Social Media Summit” was attended by hoaxers, propaganda-whores, conspiracy theorists, and right-wing agitators. It was a hand-picked audience, with no loyalty to American values or the United States Constitution, so none of them objected when Trump attacked the First Amendment.
Trump told attendees Thursday afternoon that it’s not free speech if reporters write bad stories about him if he doesn’t like the facts, and then becomes “angry” at it.
“So, to me, free speech is not when you see something good and then you purposely write bad, to me that’s very dangerous speech, and you become angry at it,” Trump told attendees. “But that’s not free speech. I don’t think that the mainstream media is free speech either, because it’s so crooked, it’s so dishonest.”
Trump doesn’t so much speak the English language as he chews on it and spits out mangled chunks. As a result, people like you and I are forced to take his saliva-coated word-soup and try to translate it into English.
His sentences are childish and poorly thought out, however, it would seem that what Trump is saying is that he rejects the American ideal of protecting the freedom of the press if the press should ever dare to write stories about him or his administration that make him angry.
This is no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to Trump’s behavior and attitudes. Trump has criticized those who believe in the freedom of speech as “foolish people.” He has endorsed attacks on protesters and the imprisonment of people who burn the flag. He has attempted to silence and marginalize his critics by forcing staff, and even interns, to sign unconstitutional non-disclosure agreements and revoking, or threatening to revoke, the security clearances of former administration officials. His administration has also proposed to dramatically limit the right to protest near the White House and on the National Mall.
And Trump has made it very clear that he doesn’t stand for the freedom of the press. As a presidential candidate, he told supporters he would “open up our libel laws” to sue journalists. “We’re going to have people sue you like you’ve never got sued before,” he promised.
Trump has referred to journalists as “scum” and “slime,” and mocked a reporter for having a disability. He vowed to sue women who reported incidents of sexual harassment and assault, along with the outlets that covered their accounts, and threatened a lawsuit against a Hispanic journalist group for calling out his bigoted remarks.
When Republican Greg Gianforte violently assaulted a reporter, Trump praised Gianforte and called him “my kind of guy”. And when the Saudi royal family tortured and killed a reporter from an American newspaper, Trump took the side of the Saudi criminals.
Trump has also publicly told us that he thinks it is “disgusting” the way that the American press has the freedom to ‘’write whatever they want to write”. He even threatened to cancel the broadcast licenses of media companies that offer negative coverage of him. And he’s publicly announced that he believes that the American Media is “the enemy of the people” and declared himself to be “at war” with the American Media.
He’s threatened to pull credentials of reporters who write negative stories about him and called for a federal investigation into Saturday Night Live after watching a rerun of an episode parodying him.
He’s also referred to the Constitution of the United States as “really bad”.
Trump hate the United States Constitution, he hates freedom of the press, he hates freedom of speech and has made it clear that he wants to get rid of all of these things.
Trump is violently opposed to American values.

I take that to mean that writing things that are false or incomplete / biased in a way that makes something appear to mean something completely different ("spin" for short) is not quite the same as writing something that is true but distasteful.
Like that recent picture of kids sleeping in a Trump detention center. You know. The photo that was taken during Obama's presidency in a detention center built years before that.

It's no coincidence that Trump praises foreign dictators. It's quite obvious he wants to get rid of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom or religion, the separation of powers and the separation of church and state. He wants America to be a dictatorship, just like his buddies have in North Korea, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

People who talk a lot listen very little. You're great at cherry picking and taking things out of context to make yourself look legitimate. When Maxine Waters, one of the most corrupt politicians in congress tries to begin impeachment proceedings before Trump is even inaugurated, slandering him before he's even in office, calling on lefty lunes like you to orally and physically harass other conservatives then I have to laugh out loud at your concern for free speech. When your wing of free speech ( ANTIFA ) runs roughshod through the streets of america causing physical harm to conservative reporters, threatening their lives, your concern for free speech is outright laughable.
Trump is all for accurate reporting but not much of that happens today. The ratings for the likes of MSNBC, CNN, THE GUARDIAN, NYT, WAPO plumated 26% because they're honest broker, 'LMFAO' they have done nothing but express their freedom to propagate libel and lies, much like what you're doing right now.
Maxine Waters used her position in congress to manipulate the treasury for her own benefit, try reading up on OneUnited bank, the pot calling the kettle black. LMFAO
Your not very analytical and certainly not articulate, but you sure do talk a lot or should I say write a lot. More TDS, you must have voted for queen Hillary. Don't worry she'll be in the news a lot in the near future for real obstruction of justice along with her husband, you can watch as their foundation is exposed for corruption and pay to play charges.
How quick you forget how Obama spied on journalist from the AP and FOX, or how he actually spied on the members of congress. I guess you prefer the media being spied on behind their backs, at least Trump is honest by just telling them up front how he feels about them.

I guess his actions speak louder than words. When he draws a line in the sand he backs it up. On two occasions he had the courage to engage militarily with Syria for the use of chemical weapons on his own people. He also gave the military the order to defend themselves in Syria and they wiped out 400 + [ RUSSIAN ] mercenaries massing against them. He evicted 60 Russian diplomats ( spies ) from the US. Let me think, OH yah, he's the only one that had the balls to send lethal aid to the Ukraine and to send troops and equipment to Poland as an Umbrella for defense. He gave our military the green light to take off the gloves against ISIS, an Obama creation. He also pushed crippling sanctions against Iran. Wasn't it Obama who had an open mic mishap where he told the president Medvedev of Russia to wait until his re-election where he planned to severely weaken our missile defense systems in europe. When Obama drew a line, Putin and Assad laughed at him. Trump may be smiling in the presence of Putin but he's slapping the shit out of him behind the scenes. Most don't know the facts or are not interested. Can someone please tell me what Obama did? One week the left calls Trump a warmonger the next he's weak.

Elections are supposed to have consequences, conveying power to the winners. But when Democrats win an election, the modern G.O.P. does its best to negate the results, flouting norms and, if necessary, the law to carry on as if the voters hadn’t spoken.
Thus, in 2016 the voters of North Carolina chose a Democrat to govern the state; the immediate G.O.P. response was to try to strip away most of the governor’s power. Last year Democrats won a majority of the votes for the state legislature, too, although Republicans retained control thanks to extreme gerrymandering. But they no longer have a veto-proof majority — hence last week’s power grab.
Similarly, last year America’s voters chose to give Democrats control of the House of Representatives. This still leaves Democrats without the ability to pass legislation, since Republicans control the Senate and the White House. But the House, by law, has important additional powers — the right to be informed of what’s going on in the executive branch, such as complaints by whistle-blowers, and the right to issue subpoenas demanding information relevant to governing.
The Trump administration, however, has evidently decided that none of that matters. So what if Democrats demand information they’re legally entitled to? So what if they issue subpoenas? After all, law enforcement has to be carried out by the Justice Department — and under William Barr, Justice has effectively become just another arm of the G.O.P.
This is the context in which you want to think about the latest round of revelations about Brett Kavanaugh.
First of all, we now know that the F.B.I., essentially at Republican direction, severely limited its investigation into Kavanaugh’s past. So Kavanaugh was appointed to a powerful, lifetime position without a true vetting.

Trump didn't run on a platform of freedom of the press, freedom of speech, the United States Constitution or any other American Values. He ran on a platform of White nationalism, xenophobia and racism. This is why he was endorsed by racist organizations, but not by American patriots.

But President Trump DID run on a platform of Making America Great Again (which incorporates the American concepts of freedom of the press, freedom of speech, the United States Constitution and any other American Values). He embodies the very idea of denying White nationalism, xenophobia and racism. This is why he was elected by Americans sick and tired of the same old Washington BS (from both parties). Racist organizations endorse people all the time - it's part of their shtick. Everyone BUT those opposing the endorsee ignores their crap.

I don't have several weeks free to process everything into a list that you won't read anyway, but they include renegotiating NAFTA and a dozen or more other trade agreements with Japan, South Korea, etc. Tax cuts, internal infrastructure programs such as the rural prosperity plan (broadband in rural areas so we can ALL enjoy literotica.com).
Feel free to look around with your own time, but don't be surprised to find that Trump has advocated and implemented as much or more of the Democratic goals as Republican.
Look past the hate and you'll find out that even if he isn't a wonderful person, he's been good for this country.
If your goals are other than a successful America where people are working together then yeah. I guess he hasn't done all that much.

Trump swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.....but he never had any intention of ever doing that.
To get out of doing his job, he's now claiming that parts of the United States Constitution that he doesn't like are "phony".
"You people with this phony emoluments clause," Trump childishly complained to reporters.
The foreign emoluments clause is, however, is enshrined in Article I of the US Constitution. The provision bars public officials from receiving gifts or cash from foreign governments without congressional approval.
It says: "No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under [the United States], shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State."
There is also a domestic emoluments clause that prohibits the president from receiving money from the US government other than an annual salary.
It says: "The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be encreased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them."
Taken together, the emoluments clauses essentially prohibit the president from profiting from their office via foreign or domestic governments.
But Trump doesn't like the U.S. Constitution and would prefer to use his government position to scam as much money as possible for his failing businesses, so rather than follow the law, he refers to the emoluments clause as "phony".
