I no longer have a harem.... For the record...

Nope, and there's no competition. Although I can remember back in the day 'competing' for certain ladies with other guys. It did add an element of sport. But, I was still friendly with the other guys. Kind of like golfing with guy friends I suppose, you want to win, but the friendship and comradery supersedes any Ill-will.

There was competition?

Hmmm...

Go on.

All the women are reading this.

Sport, you say?

:D

Hahaaa . . .you want me to dig myself into a hole? I'll just say that there was plenty of sport on both sides. In the instances I'm thinking of, the prey were also the hunters.

We’ll accept that. You’ve just won 1000$ in today’s Daily Double.

I think the idea of competing for women is kind of... I dunno. I mean, I am not trying to throw out some kind of absurd idea, but it's almost like these girls are real people. And making a sport of them or adding a notch to the bedpost sounds kind of Jersey Shore-ish. And that's coming from me. And I'm kind of a dick.

I do think girls and guys here both do what you say, though. I feel like for guys it is more sport. For girls it is more territory.

Same Sex Friendships on Lit

How important are they to you? Are they harder to make because of the nature of the site. Girls seem to have it a bit easier. Is that just the nature of women to make friends a bit easier or... other reasons. Discuss!

Hmm. I don't have any male Litsters I'm close with (but I generally have more female friends than male anyway, I'm not sure why but that's how it's panned out so far). There are some I like and I'd have a beer with, but here? I think people tend to be guarded about personal details, and (I'm aware I'm painting with broad brush strokes here) guys aren't usually so great talking feelings. And even when we are good with it, perhaps we broadly feel we are taken less seriously with other guys. That said, I'm down to change that - it's always good talking to interesting people, and if someone's a known quantity I'd also (possibly) be okay letting a wall or two down so communication is easier.

Friendships and knowledge are the reasons I’m here.
I lucked out finding more.
I love that there’s a community for us to hang out in together or separately but my friendships bring me back.

Absolutely this

I can flirt and banter and be silly with women on the threads but I feel like I’m still outside of a tight knit circle that’s already formed

That being said, when I do connect with another female here on Lit it usually is an important relationship to me because I can be vulnerable with another woman in ways that I can’t with my male friends ...sometimes guys just don’t get what a crazy hot mess women’s minds and emotions can be like another woman can

Women friends are very important to me. I feel a kinship when I’m close friends with another woman. I have a good amount of irl friends that I adore, and I found my circle fairly easily.

Online has been different. When I joined Lit, I saw so many women that were smart and funny, but I felt like those friendships were already tight, and I felt like it was very hard to make friends here. While I could banter with people on the threads, I didn’t feel like I was looked upon very favorably. Now, that could be on me for a couple of reasons...1. I’m afraid to give too much info about myself bc I’ve had some scary experiences when I’ve been too open online. 2. I have a tendency to over analyze every comment and think that every negative vague post is about me. Those two reasons may have played a big role in why it took so long to feel more at home with some of the women on Lit. I think that many people here have their guard up because of past experiences, and that is another hurtle to get over before friendships are cemented.

What the two of you said above is soooooo accurate
We torture ourselves.
For what it’s worth I’ve wanted to be good friends with both of you but I tend to be much more nervous than I probably appear online

Fingers, strap-on or something else?

I've got friends and acquaintances of both sexes. I just said in a conversation to Ems the other day that women here on the Playground probably think of me like a gay friend these days because I don't hit on them anymore

I've always thought of you as a gay friend :p

And you too... I giggled and choked on my drink

It’s not a sport for me (maybe because I’m not looking for a “serious” online relationship?), but I have seen the bolded sentence happen a bit over the last couple years. Not personally, just the llama drama.

Anyway, I haven’t answered the original question:

I have had some very interesting conversations with guys on here in the past. Like others have mentioned, usually about a particular post/thread. But I think in the main that guys don’t come to lit for male bonding (if that’s your kink, go hog wild though).

I’d rather have conversations with a bit of silly innuendo and flirting and that just works better for me with women. I love in depth conversations about pretty much anything, but it’s always fun to have a bit of spice with it.

Re: women are sport- I know of one guy here who had a spreadsheet of girls. A literal Excel spreadsheet.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your point, Apisto. When you ask most people why they've come to Lit, you get two very segregated answers between guys and girls. How many guys have you ever heard say, "I came here for the stories"?

That wasn’t golfing

Most of them. Right before they send a dick pic

*Raises hand* I did.. I spent a while writing them, and ha going out on the authors hangout, working on collaboration and story ideas.. i stayed because I made good friends here.

Ok... I need to know who else has a spreadsheet...

Um, I came here for the stories....

That was back in the day when Lit was still in it's early stages mind you.

Right, right. We all came here for the stories. And you're all daddies to just one little.

So now, we can all see that guys like to lie about how they came here. :) (I'm kidding)

I'm sure some guys came here for the stories. *coughs* But let's be real... Most guys didn't come here reading stories. I'm quite sure we could get an idea of the ratio by comparing the number of male writers versus female.

Re: Spreadsheets- I actually knew this of two people. One I remember the name. The other I only remember by their annoying ass posts. One of those butt licking playboy types I never saw them firsthand, but I do believe it to be true as the source was reliable, in my mind.

I wonder what was on the spreadsheet? Pros/cons of each woman? Details of each Skype session? So curious!

I don't know that. If I recall, and I'm really digging back many years, I believe they were the following reasons:

One I believe was for keeping track of conquests

The other was for keeping track of names and details of his harem

I met my ex wife here. I did not come for the stories. She had a fucking hot thread of a bathtub...and a tee shirt.

Ok... I need to know who else has a spreadsheet...
Me obviously.

You aren't kidding. You like to be obnoxious. Just own it. :) I am currently rolling my eyes so hard I'm giving myself a headache.
You claim to know not one, but two of these men, but don't remember any details including their names, but you knew them so well that they confided information that would have gotten them basically blacklisted by most women here.
VERY few women here are as weird about things as me, but the idea that someone was compiling their info would not have sat well with anyone woman on lit.
So you know this, but you didn't even talk to these people? doesn't make a lot of sense.
Unless your reliable source was in fact a woman and then we'd all know about it, because women share this type of potentially hurtful behavior, potentially harmful and maybe even dangerous behavior with each other usually and stuff like that becomes legend and everyone would remember who it was that reduced women to tickmarks on their spreadsheet and bragged about it.

I wonder what was on the spreadsheet? Pros/cons of each woman? Details of each Skype session? So curious!
If he was smart it would be things like birthdays and what she likes and how she likes things... but if it's true it was probably bullshit like how big her boobs are and if she will cam.

I feel like this is an urban legend in the making... but I'm wearing my skeptical panties today.

Well, I don't know whether this is falling apart or evolving into a deep discussion.

Nope, it's falling apart.

I came here for the high-quality smut. I started writing it myself. I still do, and I think I'm getting better. I enjoy the intelligent exchange here between fellow perverts.

And titties.

I have some PM friends who I truly enjoy chatting with, but i don't need a spreadsheet, because like (I syspect) most guys, I only have one persona. I don't have to remember who I treat one way and who I treat a different way. Like I said, I think most people on here are the same.

Oh yeah, there's Fred in AmPics who has an index of breasts with size...he's cool. That's for Science anyway.

PLP, I think we need a new question.
