Let's really fight.

Who has your favorite french fries? What makes them perfect? Salty? Crispy? Seasoned? Are you a ketchup person? Tell me your French Fry Fetishes!

Sweet potato fries with a marshmallow dip. It’s a seasonal delicacy that I’m craving right now.

FRIES? CHIPS?

Fresh cut from Russet potatoes, double fried so they are truly crisp, malt vinegar and lots of salt. Hold the ketchup. The only place to get them is a Chip Truck or a place that does real fish and chips. Harvey's, a buyer chain in Canada comes pretty close. And "yes" to dipping Wendy's fries in the froster.

Best fries ever are the fries at the Oakland Original. Amsterdam Falafel is a very close second.

Otherwise: thick, double fried, with good salt (flakey or kosher. Crunchy salt). A variety of dips is appreciated - honey mustard. Mayo. BBQ. ‘Special sauce’. I have never used white vinegar, but malt vinegar, sure.

Now, a whole different breed would be shake shack fries. The best condiment for those is the concrete you order. Dip em in that. fuuuuck

Sweet potato fries usually suck - mushy and flavorless. But when they’re good - yasss. With BBQ sauce.

Oh, I love sweet potato fries with a cinnamon sugar dipping sauce. Mmm.

And I kinda want to try fries with vinegar now. But mayo? Maybe if it's dressed up a bit. I made an herb mayo for sandwiches today that I think would make a perfect veggie dip. I think it could work for fries, too!

If you have never had fries...errr chips with malt vinegar you need to ask yourself how you’re living. I basically work for fries and beer. The occasional taco. It’s an honest living.

Try them with melted honey butter sprinkled with cinnamon. :) Add a little extra raw honey if you've got it. ;)

Well I like all kind of fries. Salty and properly cooked are the important part. Seasoned fries, I miss bojangles, but since it has been 20 years, so they might be better in my head. Overall I tend to lean to thinner and crisp. McDonald's is my favorite fast food fry. Condiments, I do weird things often. I enjoy sweet and sour, honey mustard, ketchup mixed with mayo, oh soft serve ice cream. I used to get fast food a lot when I was a stoner. We have a local restaurant that serves gator and fries. They supply a garlic dill aioli as one of the sauces for their gator, which I really enjoy dipping my fries in. Again though, as long as they are correctly cooked and salted, I will be happy.

I make the best fries hands down. Yukon potatoes only. Soaked in salt water for at least 4 hrs. Dry them in a towel...then dry them in a second dry towel.

Now here is the secret...duck fat. If you dont know what I am talking about, you havent lived. I will roast a duck just for the fat. Throw that fucking meat away. Fry them til they start to float. Dont fry too many. Just a couple handfuls at a time. Take them out and shake them in a paper bag. Fry them again. Yes...double fry, else they aren't fries.

What can I say? I like my fries like I like my guys.

Tall, blonde and dripping with a creamy sauce.

Ohhhh, not a guy and only 5'6" but I'm salty from the ocean and I'm sure we can find someone to volunteer "sauce"

Soy and vinegar's good. Hot sauces of all kinds... most Chinese sauces...

But I've never had chips so good they eclipsed all others. I've had really good, and really bad, but so far really good ones have paled in comparison with really good other foods. Maybe I'm not that much of a chip connoisseur.

That said, I'm dipping my next lot in custard. Sounds revolting, but I need to know.

The same soy and vinegar sauce as used for pot stickers?

I love good French fries and if they're really good am generally pleased with them dusted with salt and pepper.

This has proven to be a great question with some really good participation. That's pretty cool. :)

It can be. Or just the two applied together. But, I like soy on lots of carbs. It's a really, really tasty thing to splash on a good number of savoury pastries.

Lol, follow up question.

Who's been craving fries since the question was asked? :D

✋🏻

I had to order some last night..they weren’t the best but it helped

Fries from wingstop with their fry seasoning, which has just a hint of something sweet in it. I dunked the fries in a bit of buffalo sauce and then into my ranch dressing

Yumm

IDK I'm thinking some chili cheese fries with jalapeno peppers sounds like its going to be on the menu soon here. ;)

The best chips are triple cooked chips. Boil them first, cool in the freezer, then fry. Then cool in the freezer and fry again. If you do it properly you get a chip that is beautifully crispy on the outside, and perfectly soft on the inside. Delicious.

Personally I like my chips/french fries with gravy. Northern style with just gravy, or poutine.
