I married into a family that makes a huge deal over holidays, birthdays, special occasions - everything turns into a party. I simply don't get it. I don't necessarily abhor it, but it's not how I would do things. It gets difficult to separate the important events from the more mundane ones because they all start to look the same. But it's family dynamics, it doesn't really harm me, so I go along with it.
