That cold things specifically the cold damp thing I'm familiar with. I've got that steel rod in my tibia I don't know if it's going to be worse than your situation or better. On the one hand I got less meat around it on the other hand I got more bone around it.

Mine's been in there I think over 30 years now. It was worse in the early stages I don't really notice it so much anymore I'm kind of fond of the little twins that tells me it's going to rain makes me feel like a bionic weatherman

Wat's solution to Batt'reh Math: buy a new batt'reh.

If they're acting up and it's not mechanical, i. e., the alternator is working/charging properly, then spare yourself the pain-n-suff'rin' of fucking with a fer shit piece of shit storage cell.

Or you could send Seen a PM and ask him. He knows everything.

Speaking of storage cells . . . .

This particular one hasn't given me any trouble but I have no idea how long the Hondas at. Thinking back it very likely could have been several months. I've had no reason to drive it.

The last time I started it was just a move it over because it was kind of in the way of the great big huge logs that the landscaper neighbor of mine was bringing home so for some reason or another I moved it and it started right up with no problem. This particular car, the head has been milled a couple of times so the compression is quite a bit higher than Factory because they didn't bother to put the proper spacing gasket in after Milling the head. The bonus is you can bump start it fairly easy and I might end up doing that. Well after my legs heal I suppose.

Because it started so well it needs almost no battery at all to kick it over a couple of revolutions and it starts

That reminds me (actually every time I start it up reminds me) that this is the year for a new battery. Can't complain, I got 7 years out of the one that's in it but it's starting to show it's age. Might as well not wait until it's totally dead.

I finally replaced my mower battery this last spring. I got tired of recharging it every time the placed needed mowing.

;) ;)

Oh, well, if it sat for months, then that's a different story, as long as it wasn't old-n-tired to start with. Then a day or so on the trickler should d what it takes.

It is the season for batt'rehs to kick it, too. Cold brings death to them.

I lost my last one in the fall.

Which reminds me, I need to look to see how old its replacement is.

Happy Saturday!!!

I might shoulda bought a 20 gauge. Maybe next time. I don't want to add too damn many more calibres to my concoction of shootin' irons, but a well-chosen one . . . well, could be just what Dr. Wat ordered.

Wat gets lotsa walkabout on the jobsite. Yesterday was done with cold feetses. That part sucks the worst. The new hip tingles in the cold. It produces the occasional burning sensation, too. Fortunately, walking about helps keep everything limber enough, because driving kidneys way back when - didn't.

The current weekend weather "prediction": less sneaux and more ice.

A 20 ga is just a bit lighter to carry in the mountains for birds. Things like this matter as you grow older.

You might check to be sure that hip doesn't have any cobalt metal spray on it. I know a few folk that have had to have implants removed and replaced due to cobalt poisoning. FDA approval is bullshit.

We may have the white shit fall this afternoon as it warms up.

Time to cook the bacon!

Out shopping this AM they had Picnic shoulder on sale, a buck a pound. So I got a 8 pounder and threw it in the crock pot with some Mojo Criollo and added a bottle of Jamaican Jerk. It's been cooking since 8:30 or so and smellin' real good. Should keep me fed for several days, as long as I don't get tired of it. <shrug>

The Wingmaster I have is the 'featherweight', now marketed as the 'lightweight.' It only chambers 2 3/4" shells but that's fine by me. It's never been a problem either on the trap range or shooting upland game. It really is light as a feather and points at lightening speed. Not to mention a action that's smooth as silk. The only comparable gun out there is the Ithaca 37. I like the 870 better more for subjective reasons than functional issues. Long ago I had a 37 and was pleased with it too. If you can find an 870 LW at a reasonable price I'd highly recommend it to you.

Put on some beef and vegibbles. The beans can sit-n-wait until next weekend. Maybe they can soak all week.

The snow has arrived. Nothing much so far, but it's early yet.

The cats have decided that they want my supper.

My grandfather dropped dead 38 years ago today. He was quite the character . . . .

OK, I got confuddled there. The Ithaca is the "feather light", the Rem. is the "Light Weight." I had to pull the gun out of the rack to check.

I don't 'hate' it but it does irritate the shit out of me.

Regardless, if you want a light 20 that you can interchange barrels on either is an excellent choice.

As I said, my 20 has a mod. choke and it's served me well in virtually any situation. The only other barrel I would consider is an Imp. Cyl. for use with close flushing birds such as Bobwhite. A little more spread with a little less lead in the meat would be nice. But I'm not in Bobwhite country anymore so I don't feel the need.

Good evening folks!
The snow here, has mostly been a myth up til now, as it showed up as rain. It may or may not change over and continue through tonight and tomorrow, time will tell. No matter, I'm in tonight.

Probably here as well. Sneaux forecast for tomorrow but it most likely will be rain until you get to 7,000 ft or higher. As I'll be staying at 6,000 ft. I'll just have to put up with a miserable, cold, rainy day.

It appears that going out to do some shooting is out of the question for all of us.

The warming isn't a myth, here. Already up to 15°F.
