Whose identity? Mine? The source? If so, who wrote it?

All I know that’s true is the fact that it was published in the Times. I, of course, have no objective evidence that the assurances and allegations (is that the right word?) made in the op-ed is true.

I, of course, consider the NYT as a credible source (although this is an unprecedented attack piece, and journalism professors will be having a field day tomorrow discussing whether what NYT did was ethical), while Trump supporters, of course, do not.

Honestly, if I were in his shoes, I would have done a much worse job at an off-the-cuff response than he did.

Let’s see if he gets revved up about it. The theater is entertaining as long as the future of the country isn’t at stake.

Part of me wants it to get ugly but the other part knows that won't end well for anybody. But still I mean come on, how often do we get entertainment like this?

I'm puzzled by the claim that "there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment," but it was decided against because it might cause a constitutional crisis. Excuse me? The inevitability that we'd eventually get someone like Trump is one of the reasons the 25th Amendment exists.

How could following a process explicitly laid out in the Constitution provoke a constitutional crisis? At least that way, you're going by the rules. This gang of relatively sane people may think they're acting in the best interests of the country, but they're winging it and acting without authority.

Sadly enough, my thought is practice makes perfect. If he doesn't have that routine down pat by now then he's a bigger idiot than we think.

And I would be very very surprised if that was the last of his comments on the issue. Especially as it gains traction in the press. CNN is running with it as their lead story. Same with ABC, CBS, NBC, Google news. Even Fox. Granted, Fox is going with Trump's response, but that's no shocker. Reuters has it buried four stories down in politics. But it's still there. I think the only news site I didn't see a story about it was Yahoo. This is going to bounce around a bit and get some play.

I just don't believe Donald has the self control to rise above.
