The Acacia Wood from Africa and Australia is being Harvested into Instinction

Kenneth Ham bought up most of it to build his Noah's Ark Encounter in Kentucky.

If that makes you mad, you should read about agarwood or oud, it's near extinction levels, the black market, and poachers.

It's prized as an incense in Asia and the Middle East.

Cat's-Claw Acacia abounds in the USA SouthWest. I've been snagged on it many times. It's also called The-Wait-A-Minute-Bush because it takes a minute at least to get unsnagged. It's a hardy shrub and should grow under many adverse conditions. Plant it in DC and see if it overwhelms the White House like kudzu.

I've been torn up by that crap in AZ.

We won't need trees once we have hydrogen-powered cars and CO scrubbers.

Thanks to the President.

Does this look like a forest where sustainable trees grow and can be harvested?

Hundreds of these old growth Acacia trees in Africa and Australia are being cut down and made into
outdoor furniture then purchased by American consumers.

As an American and aware if this issue, I will not purchase any furniture made from Acacia wood.

Some facts might reassure you. There are at least 800 species of Acacia in Australia alone, possibly as many as 1000, with more in other countries. They are in no danger of extinction in this country. The variety used for furniture is plentiful and grown for that purpose.

I traveled from Canberra to Sydney this past weekend and Acacias (Wattles) lined both sides of the road and most of the central reservation for some 250 Km, say 100,000 plants.

You are probably right about Africa where the environment is pretty well stuffed by drought, corruption and overgrazing.

The Golden Wattle is Australia's national flower and like all wattles comes into flower between August 20 and September 20 - looks good.

Spike Milligan wrote a poem about it:-

"This is the Wattle
the symbol of our land.
You can stick it in a bottle ,
or 'old it in yer 'and." :)

I HATE those fuckers and none of them grow large enough to make furniture out of.
Our pioneer adobe house in Bisbee AZ featured a large countertop, a great acacia slab, polished to a glow. It was awesome. Then tarantulas and scorpions started crawling from under the floor. And the mantids! At least javelinas didn't run through our courtyard. Maybe the cat's-claw acacias slowed them down.
