How are votes doing for stories? The contest doesn't seem to be driving much for mine in Toy category. Only 31 votes in 2 days.

Also, vote %age is low. Usually I figure on about 1 to 1.2% of 'reads' turning into votes before the sweeps at the end of the contest. This one is just barely above 0.5 %.

I can only assume that the story's content is so friggin hot that the readers can't spare a finger from their self-pleasure to vote. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Well, I read yours and yeah, I wanted a link to the product.

I've got 70 votes on 3,300 views (1 vote in 50 views roughly which is about twice my average 1 in 100 but about the same as the last competition where I picked up 1 vote per 40 views). I picked Romance, which is an under-viewed category at best (but I couldn't see where else my story would fit), and you picked Toys and neither of those get the views that Incest or First Time stories get. Being the obsessive little stats counter I am (no, I WON'T post a table....), I can confess that my story as of this morning was the least viewed of all entered for that first day in the competition and either Romance readers hate my story or my trolls love me. More than likely, both

There might be some evidence to support your belief

Your story is 4+ pages, so maybe people are opening it (counts as a view) then pulling out when they figure out how long it is.

I won't post my contest story until tomorrow at the earliest, but the last story I posted was 7+ Lit pages and the view/vote is something like 350:1. Normally it's less than 100:1, especially when the story is new.

Having casual readers (and trolls) pull out of a long story isn't necessarily a bad thing.

33K+ in views in 3/4's of a day. 1:56 ratio. Tons of Favorites for the story and me. Incest so....Score is holding better than usual. My trolls must have taken the day off. That or too many votes for them to keep up.

I wanted to write a Toy story where the traditional toy involved became more of a character or plot element, and less of a prop.

Lol. So true. Between Halin, litfan and mine, we're trailing the pack on scores and views. And mine is definitely not your feel good romance. Maybe I should have submitted it under erotic horror? Mind you, if you could win on cubic volume of reader tears, I might place higher. I can laugh now, I wasn't when I wrote it.

My current story draft is moving very slowly. The inspiration is lacking, driven away by frequent interruptions by grandchildren on school holidays.

Apart from tweaking the tails of some on the General Board, my writing is stalled. I might look at another one of my potential entries tomorrow.

That's odd that Romance stories are not doing well - historically they have done well in the contests. But category readers do have issues with stories that don't fit their idea of what the category 'should' be and down-vote ones that don't meet their unstandardized standards.

Ohhh that's mine to a tee. I kind of couldn't see another category that suited, but it doesn't fit the romance reader standards I think, and I'm taking a stab there coz I haven't tried romance before. Still, my backup is coming along fast now

Your story is an adventure in some ways, being a sad tale in second person.
