Grass is probably the worst thing to use for lawn material. Needs lots of water, can't take much sun, has a hard time competing, needs lots of mowing. Best thing grass is good for is hitting golf balls from. Can be nice and uniform if carefully tended. It may be green but is not very green. Here in Ontario the worst of the herbicides have been banned for cosmetic purposes.

Best thing for dandelions is to make wine and salad out of them. Do have a pretty flower though.

Else... (works on thistles too)

i seeded roman chamomile on part of the yard that gets little traffic, to see if it would work. the rest of the yard received a heavy handed dose of clover in the fall. buffalo grass will be seeded this spring.

I have seen thyme lawns up here. With proper snow cover, they make it through the winter.

Roman rather than lawn? Lawn would probably be out competed by the clover but roman is pretty tough, it just doesn't cover so well; we have lots of it wild here and I let it grow till it's about to seed then pull it because I want to keep its lovely randomness. :). I adore it.

There is a double lawn chamomile that has THE most incredible scent. I love it. It likes one side of the garden but not the other!

i've only been successful in very small areas so far. it's an ongoing project, yard and garden care. one i enjoy, up until the unbearable heat of summer.

Wild strawberry and violets run rampant in my yard.

that sounds beautiful. growing up, we had patches of wild strawberries in our backyard.

i am hoping for a spring lawn. by summer, it gets too hot for pretty much anything. ongoing experiments!

danny dyer lip syncing to amy winehouse's back to black - was truly brilliant

If I could leave it up another week, I would. But it has been dropping needles for a few days now.
Putting decorations away, is just Meh.

I'm amazed that ours isn't dropping many needles yet. We didn't bother with decorations on the tree this year, just did the lights. Ran out of time before we had our party, and didn't care enough to go through the trouble after that. I agree that undecorating the tree isn't much fun. Having a good ornament storage system has taken some of the pain out of it.

Either leftover chili or leftover sloppy joes over baked potatoes. A coin may be flipped.

We're having whatever the tavern up the street is serving!
Which means beer. Lots of beer.
And probably some of those awesome brussel sprouts with parmesan cheese, oil and garlic.
Past that..we'll see what strikes our fancy.
I'm so happy it's within easy walking distance!

Our dog loved brussel sprouts. Fed them to him on the sly at every opportunity. Whenever mum cooked brussel sprouts we would ask if we could go downstairs and eat watching TV. Then feed them to the dog!

My brother eventually 'forced' himself to become accustomed to the evil things without gagging. But only fried in butter. Everything taste better fried in butter.

I did have a container that had individual spaces for each ornament. That was easy.
Now I just put them in large zip lock bags, with tissue paper for the fragiles. .
This year, I did get some winter décor to put up, after the Christmas comes down. It will be something different
