Hey, Zumi...

Cold & sunny here... just threw the tree on the front lawn. I'm generally bored, cuz the damned chest virus will NOT go away.

Our tree is still green and healthy, not losing many needles yet. It's holding up surprisingly well. It's staying up (only lights on it) until it decides it's ready to go. It just seems wrong to part with it while it still looks so pretty.

The X'mas tree mulcher services were out the day after. Wasted no time. Valentine's Day deco is up already. Nobody lets the seasons ride out gently into that good night anymore!

Oh, like this.

Yeah, right? I never thought of it that way before. Changes perspective a bit.

What really happened during the supposed climate change 'hiatus'?

JANUARY 4, 2017Nope, climate change didn't pause for about 15 years, scientists say – again. But just how did that misunderstanding happen?

From around 1998 to 2012, the rise in global temperatures seemed to plateau, according to NOAA's Extended Reconstruction Sea Surface Temperature (ERSST) dataset.

To most climate scientists, this so-called hiatus was another puzzle of our complex climate system for them to work out. But to people who were already skeptical of global warming, this data was evidence for the idea that human-induced climate change is a hoax.

But the data itself was unsound, scientists now say. There is no evidence of a hiatus.

Climate scientists use sea surface temperature data in their calculations of global warming trends. But "a fair bit of the apparent hiatus seems to be due to problems in our ocean measurements, and not a real thing," as study lead author Zeke Hausfather, an energy systems analyst and data scientist at the University of California Berkeley and Berkeley Earth, tells The Christian Science Monitor in a phone interview.

You are wrong. Also, I hate NPR.

Our stores have become pretty adept at switching from Boxing Week Sale!!! to V-Day. Not QUITE as severely commercial as y'all's, but we ARE approaching it.

Even though TurkeyDay is in October, we are now inundated with Black Friday flyers and spam the same day as yourselves.

I need Buckley's and a steamy shower... whines more!

If the grass looks greener, it's because my dog continues to poop all over it.

Really, try ?

Really ?

You made a thread about it.

Why not stick all of the argument in your thread ?

*holds tongue, and clamps down on teeth*

Most of what we decorate our house with is winter-themed versus being holiday-themed, so I have no qualms about leaving it up well past the holidays. Keeps things looking a bit cozier, and what's not to like about that?

i seeded roman chamomile on part of the yard that gets little traffic, to see if it would work. the rest of the yard received a heavy handed dose of clover in the fall. buffalo grass will be seeded this spring.

If I could leave it up another week, I would. But it has been dropping needles for a few days now.
Putting decorations away, is just Meh.

wild strawberry grows pretty good on lawn surfaces, don't expect to see and fruit though, the domesticated variety spreads very rapidly and there is a chance of fruit if you get to them before the birds and slugs

We have them but they get mowed down. We also have tons of raspberry vines. Love my raspberries.
