I'm going to be an hour or so from an old online friend in a couple months.

We stopped chatting 2 months ago with the intention of not speaking again.

I want to message her and tell her I'll be near her and see if we can meet up.

I guess it depends on who's idea it was or why you decided to not speak anymore.

But yeah, probably stupid because you asked.
 
There are these things called "letters" that you can send to people through the mail.

When you send a text message or e-mail, you are making a demand on her attention. If you send a letter, it's much easier for her to ignore it completely if she wants to.

Let her know that you'll be nearby and how best to reach you. Then stop and wait for a reply.
 
If you're already not chatting...what is there to lose?

Just don't be a dick about it (I.e. stalk her at her workplace to "surprise" her), and what's the worst that can happen? She'll NOT talk to you less?

I've gone months after breaking contact to say "hi", or I'm in town feel like a drink again? and reviving relationships.
Sometimes a break can breathe needed CPR.

Just keep your expectations low and don't be surprised if you don't hear back. And keep it to ONE message, not an inbox of whiney drivel.
