I actually favor population control. When it’s done right, that is.
Guarantee gender equality, Medicare for all, and a basic guaranteed income will do more for population control than any fascist system of coercion and meta-threats* ever will.
History has shown that populations where the child death rate is near zero will also have the lowest birth rate. Societies where universal health care (of which Medicare for all is an example) is provided, see lower child mortality rates and also lower birth rates. An economy where both men and women are able to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors without the fear of ruin and homelessness if they fail, will produce more entrepreneurs. This means more women who are independent, including Latinas and immigrant-citizens who (statistically speaking) have more kids. Money in hand will enable these women to ‘go their own way’ with less fear of economic reprisal. Regardless of why immigrants have more children - and clearly why is debatable - a basic guaranteed income will ensure that more women will have children when they want to.
Also, eliminating Conservative, corporatist and radical feminist cultural norms is obviously critical to stabilizing a population. Allowing women better and cheaper access to contraception through their health care plans, and allowing men access to better male contraception technology (something that big pharma companies and radical feminists have traditionally opposed), will also help to reduce population growth.
Prosperous and truly free countries with strong social safety nets have fewer children, because each child has a better chance at success and survival. These three factors are the ultimate most effective form of population control.
