son of the isolated blurts thread!

you are, you pinko communist. :D

the two party system is IMHO a reflection of the fact that broadly, americans tend towards a simplistic view of things. you see it in most of our major films: the "hollywood ending" is a thing for a reason. we can do dichotomy and binary thinking: just don't ask us to appreciate nuance.

how unamerican of you. ;>

ed

Oh, apparently I am. Not to mention a hippie and a feminazi. :D At least I rock the commie look with leather and lace :p :D :p

I can't ask for nuances? Damn it, Ed!! There you are, bursting my bubble.

Yeah, I've been accused of being unAmerican more than once :rolleyes:

"Your hair's finally beginning to look nice. I suppose you're going to get it all cut off soon" may not be quite the compliment you intended.

Oh, I love those!

My personal faves:

From my grandpa: "Oh, you look like your new job's keeping you so busy. No time for running?"

From a student (age 9): "I love your hair, Ms. Jelly! I can always tell when you washed it!"

After a rather unfortunate and never to be repeated permanent: from my six year old nephew "Oh, Aunt glynndah, I like your new hair. It's just like petting a poodle."

I have a (mostly healed) wound on the portion of my shin that has limited sensation as an artifact of my old motorcycle accident. I banged it on something then swung a pick past it before that healed.

The small one is anointing it with various substances she has found around this little kitchenette we are staying in at the moment.

She says. "I am fixing you right up AND brightening your day to feel better!"

Yes, yes she is.

She wants to get into the cologne again, Since I think I smell potent enough I have vetoed the idea.

She says:

"If you keep hating the treatments I give you, you are NOT going to feel better!"

Those of you who are friends with me on FB: I've temporarily deactivated my account. I don't really want to talk about the reasons why, but for various reasons, I'm not in a good place right now mentally, and certain people on FB are making it worse.

I'll still be on Lit, and I'm sure I'll be back on FB in a week or two, but I need to step away for a while.

That movie is iconic in my family! :D
Book? What's a book? :p

*pinches you* read the book!

off topic, E and i were discussing Mandy Patinkin the other night,
and agreeing that if we ever needed a hostage negotiator, we wanted him. :D

Sorry to hear of your current state. I hope it passes quickly.

I went back, mainly because my kid freaked when she couldn't find me (she was at her dad's). I have to avoid it, though. I said some things that needed to be said yesterday, but I said them in an ugly way.

I was wondering why my feed was suddenly filled with updates from family members I haven't wanted to see in years. ;)

Day 3, Maui family holiday.

Spent the morning with my daughter, one hell of a swimmer for five years old, snorkelling on a reef.

All those practice snorkel sessions in the pool over the last few months paid off. We saw a couple turtles, lobsters, and hundreds of colourful fish. She was hoping for a dolphin sighting, but nothing yet.

The only thing brighter than the sun was her smile on the boat ride back. I hadn't realized how much I needed that.

Her and the boy are having a wee nap, and I am sitting here having a cold Castaway IPA. The smile from earlier must've been contagious, as I now find it stuck on my face. It feels like an old friend, missed when absent, and comforting when back.

How did you enjoy that Castaway IPA? I've had a few of the other brews from Kona Brewing and thought they were rather good.

Hang in there. Good thoughts and energy coming your way. :rose:
