Here's Exactly How Many College Graduates Live Back at Home
JORDAN WEISSMANN | FEB 26 2013, 3:07 PM ET

The unemployed college graduate moving back in with his parents has been a stock figure of the past few years, helping to cement the Millennials' reputation as the "Boomerang Generation." But how many young grads are returning to live with their mom and dad (or their aunt or uncle)?

The number to remember is 45 percent. What share of recent college graduates were living with family in 2011? It's 45 percent. How much higher was that figure than in 2001? Also 45 percent. That's the conclusion from Census data crunched for The Atlantic by Pew economist Richard Fry, the author of a recent report on young adults and debt. It's bad -- about on par with the unfortunate results Pew found via a poll of young adults in 2012. But it's not as bad as the bogus 85 percent figure CNN, Time and The New York Post breathlessly reported last year.

Didn't click my link, didja?

The company that produced the breathless survey, which Time references, mysteriously couldn't produce the research that backed up its specious claim and shortly went out of business afterwards.

In any event, the study was done back in 2010. Even mouthbreathers like you would admit the economy is doing much better in 2014 than back when we were coming out of the Bush recession in 2010.

Cant refudiate BobbleOnHead's 2010 article with a 2011 article from those right-wing wackos at Time Magazine. That is not permitted.

My "2010 article"?

So using the LWCJ matrix of nothing that is reported on Drudge, Breitbart or Fox News has even a kernel of truth, We should like an article from Leftwing The Atlantic, exactly why?

If I accept this, does that buy a pass the next time you want to turn up your nose at face value based on source?

OK, I'll play.

SO you are THRILLED that it is ONLY 45%?

Almost HALF?

Well done Team Obama, Well done.

See how that is done? Address the substance of the post, not the source. Try it sometime.

The part where you didn't actually paste any of the article much less the date. The part where I didn't bother to click your link since you rarely post anything worth reading. I thought I caught "2010" as part of the URL. Oops. You win.

As I said to Phrodeau...you are THRILLED that it is ONLY 45%?

Discuss.

SimilarSep 12, 2012 ... In fact, 53 percent of 18-to-24 year olds are living with their parents, and 85
percent of college seniors plan on moving back home after ...

Nothing?

Lets say for the sake of discussion the number is a mere 33.3%.

Discuss the positives.

It would be down from the number in 2001, which was 45%.

Now go and play outside.

Funny thing, though, since the number has fallen 25% or more in the past year they seldom mention it anymore.

Robbie, dear. Could it be that part of that 25% drop might include those people who no longer get their unemployment extended after 6 months, and yet, are still unemployed? Do we have any way of tracking those numbers?

POOP makes shit up:cool:

Yeah

Chicago just raised the min wage to $13. That has to be good news for the economy!

Why not change the min wage to $30 an hour? In one year after this idiotic idea, unemployment and inflation would negate the benefit. Govenment can only hinder the ecomony. Regulation makes it go underground and produces crime. See prohibition, the war on drugs, wge and price controls etc.

Bidin~Darling, a precious thought, but the Labor Department has a separate statistic called the Labor Force Participation Rate, which includes those such as Ishmael and Vetteman who have exhausted all benefits and given up even the pretense of finding a job...these are the hardcore unemployed ("deadbeats").

As you can see, that number has been basically the same for the past 11 straight months.

:)

Robbie, my lil kissy face, I knew you'd have a link. So this number includes my relative who has been a black hat, certified electrician, in and around mining and construction for 35 yrs and has been unemployed for a yr?

Biden, my sweet little love muffin, yes, that number includes Uncle Crackhead.

Robbie, Sugar lips, Uncle Crackhead notwithstanding, did you notice your link shows a steady decrease in Labor Force Participation from an average of 66.0 percent in 2004, to an average 62.8 percent in 2014. It concerns me somewhat, but if you say I've nothing to worry about and wrap your big ole arms around me, I'm sure all will be well.
