I knew what you were getting at, it was a good point. It's interesting to me, though, that Vette used Sammy Gravano, Al Capone, Baby Face Nelson and the like as analogies. He literally doesn't seem to realize that Martin is the victim in the murder trial of some other guy. I think he truly, literally can't conceive as the black kid as the victim in a case involving a white guy. His mind has unintentionally flipped the roles.

I don't think it's all white-wash, I think he honestly keeps forgetting who is on trial for shooting whom. It's fascinating and telling.

Both were dropped, as I recall. Assaulting a cop is nothing, its a charge coward cops pull all the time, then gets dropped. George got a restraining order on the GF at the same time, both were dropped.
