I've known at least two who are so good at it you don't know when they are lying or telling the truth. You know the kind who say something completely banal about some everyday thing and it turns out to be a complete lie and turn around and say something that seems completely implausible and it turns out to be true. Those are the strangest ones.

A while ago, in another thread, I said that once upon a time I used to do the 'little white lie' thing.
But then I grew up, and realised there's no point to it.
Since about my mid-30's, I haven't told a lie.... not even a teensy weensy one.
And my life has been a LOT better for it.

I was engaged to one. The upside to it was she was a weirdly bad liar for a person who lied constantly. So I was never fooled by the lying--but she would use the absence of absolute certainty she was lying, it was just a feeling of "that's not right" for most of the relationship, to pressure me into TELLING her I believed them.

She would also gaslight, call me names, and try to convince me I'd never meet or get anyone else like her. On the last thing, I hope to God she is right.

Lying is as different as people.
I know someone whom psych's now term as having a "narcissistic personality disorder". Love the label. This person comes up with the most convoluted lies and twists things around, as part of her game to manipulate others; like some grand master puppeteer. However, due to her old age she isn't as good as she used to be and what is the scariest is how she believes her own lies and refuses to acknowledge the truth of her own past.
When they believe their own lies, that's when you get out of Dodge, cus that's just batshit crazy.
