Looks like I got slammed last night. 300 plus votes swept in my top story. 1180+ down to 880+. My second story, with almost twice as many votes lost about 10.

Still unsure why I get hit the last day of most contests. Someone's definitely screwing with me. This time it looks like it didn't change the score much. Maybe down .01

So you're romance story got slammed? That's odd, usually its incest that takes a big hit because of the vote totals.

I seem to have dropped about nine or so, maybe eleven, I wasn't keeping that close an eye on it. Score dropped about .01 it looks like.

I can never remember my vote totals. I know round about, but then when I look the next day I can;t recall what I had. I'm guessing it was 40 or so last night.

It came at a good time as last I had looked I had taken a couple of one bombs because I had dropped a point, but it was back up this morning, then I lost some more and the score stayed the same.

Yeah - the incest story has 157K views and lost probably less than 20 votes. The good thing is with that many votes, it's hard to impact the score.

Then again, it doesn't have as high a score. Big target on "Poolboy Benefits". I'd guess that part of it is the fan base. Maybe some of my loyal readers think they're doing me a favor by voting more than once.

Oh well, not like I wasn't expecting it. It comes with the territory. I just thought Romance might be a little immune.

I've never wavered from saying the cheating in that earlier contest was meant to be in your favor--and that your claim that Scouries did it was ridiculous and a clumsy attempt at slight of hand. (And you said then you'd never enter another contest In fact, you took your marbles and went home--for a little while.)

This is interesting. On the top list, Romance, last 30 days, I show 1164 votes. On my member home page, under submissions, it shows 883. Obviously, the top-list is behind.

I don't normally track the exact numbers, they change too frequently. It's only the big obvious ones I notice. I guess my vote sweep will show up on sun_sea_sky's chart tomorrow.

Well here are the latest numbers! Very little change over the last 6 days. In fact most of the stories stood still in terms of total votes and views. Most stories didn’t generate much additional pop from being on the Contest page after the first day or so.

And not much sweeping so far. It will be interesting to see which broom she has MANU use this contest…

We are going to have a very interesting finish though. The QUEEN again is facing a conundrum – let three ROMANCE stories sweep or let the sites biggest cheat slip into to one of the placings. And do you know what? Even LAUREL is getting tired of all these romance winners. She should have taken the bosses advice years ago…

I have 1164 votes for your story too. From what I've seen the top-list is updated about once a day. The thing is, I take these figures once a day at around the same time. So they may be a day behind but will be internally consistent.

Also since they are updated once a day they will tend to mask sweeps. Say you are swept 50 votes but gain 40 during the day it will show as a sweep of 10. Can't do much about that.

I believe our dear LAUREL is on the horns of a dilemma …

Last themed contest she defied all common sense and awarded a prize to the biggest lackey on the site in spite of the fact that it was the least read story in the contest that is supposedly decided by our readers. Even her strongest supporters shook their heads at that one. You should have seen some of the PMs I got when I publicly pointed out that the ‘least read’ story should never have won. People who’ve attacked me for years agreed with me!

Then she got around to the June 2011 monthly winners (they were supposed to be declared back in July 2011) and awarded the prizes to Non Human and Sci/Fi stories only. More head shaking all around.

13 of the 18 monthly “readers choice” contest winners so far declared for 2011 are now NH/SF… And of course they're all chapters...

So what does she do now on this themed contest? Give out three ROMANCE category prizes or give a prize to the convicted cheat? Not a very appetizing choice of options.

I wonder if she’ll manage to get the July 2011 NH/SF chaptered monthly contest winners out at the same time?

I think she should throw all caution to the wind and award you the prize, Jim. Nothing could be more fun or gin up forum discusion more than to pick a story that didn't even exist and wasn't even in the contest.

Don’t laugh ace. A variety of options have been offered me over the years. During the 2009 negotiations (or it may have been the 2010 ones) approaches were made to both my agent and me regarding possible scenarios under which I would be allowed to win some “readers choice” prizes.

There was a cost though. While I wasn’t to be completely muzzled and turned into a lapboy of the QUEEN like so many others have been (darkboy, the dumb Texan and you for example) I was going to have to submit my more controversial posts to the PALACE for vetting before posting. Of course I refused!

Scouries censored? NEVER!!!!

Later I was asked to write a NON-HUMAN category story by the PALACE with the understanding that it would be awarded a monthly prize a year or two later whenever they got around to awarding the prize. I played along for awhile and then submitted Chapter 39 of “Scouries Battles the Evil Kitten Sister Vampires”.

They rejected it! Asked where the earlier chapters were. I responded that although 283 NH/SF stories had won prizes on the site over the years a Chapter 1 had never been so honored. So why should I waste the time I argued – I’ll just put out Chapter 39 as a stand alone chapter and take the prize.

During late 2011 another palace rumor reached me – I was to be given a prize for a story I’d submitted three years earlier (one of my masterpieces). However they were simply going to take the story, copy it, change the title and then submit it under another LIT name. A name I wouldn’t be able to access. I payed along for a wwhile before I had my lawyer send them a letter advising them that even if the story was posted under a different name that the bonus clause in my contract would still kick in and not only for that year but for all the years the story had been up on the site. That was the last I heard on that idea.

So my friend your suggestion has probably occurred to the ROYALS. They know that any mention of scouries is good for the site…
