My story was written with that in mind, I got some suggestions earlier in this thread about what to include to do just that. I note that my story has 5 favorites, so someone liked it.

Plus, out ot 490 votes, only 276 could have been 1-bombs.

If anything, the scary thing is, when you write something deliberately with really depraved characters, amoral scum of the earth, and then someone comments "oh yeah, that happens all the time" or words to that effect.

Purposeful Bad Writing

What cracks me up with the Bad Heather story, is that I have people telling me it was their favorite spanking story ever! And it has 9 favorites!!

This story was purposefully written with a horrible trick ending, where two girls lure their father's into bad behavior (without much hints during the story) and the mother catches them in the act and takes a shovel to the two men. It's an ugly violent act in the middle of betrayal by the daughter. I was looking for a score around 2.00. Really. I even jokingly talked about it on this forum a good while ago, while I was submitting it. I wanted that worst story title.

Rotten readers still gave it a rating over 4.00. Several emailed me telling me they were 'disappointed' in me, and the story wasn't up to par. No kidding.

I know now, that no matter how bad, immoral, or evil the story is, if it's written half-way decently, and you don't screw up the spelling and grammar too bad, somebody out there will like it.

Next time I go for the 'Lowsman', I'll beat the English language to death, instead of some abused fathers.

I don't think the trolls need the encouragement/reminder to vote low. I think we give trolls credit for having too much intelligence. I do, however, believe there may be a hardcore person or two who enjoys slamming individual authors. Considering the traffic, I'm sure several authors have generated a faithful team of trolls who enjoy voting them down.

I do find it interesting that trolls seem to be consistently bad spellers.

I'm not sure if reminding people to vote is good or bad. I sometimes do it. I'm an easy audience. If I read it, I'll toss down a 5 star rating for the effort. But then again, I'm the guy at a comedy club who tries to laugh in hopes the comedian (and audience) will find a groove and get better. If I don't like something, I just leave.

Good evening. The mountebanks tell me that there are 107 stories in the competition to date, with an average score of 4.23 from an average of 305 votes. Stories had an average of 28,551 views, an average of 10 favorites, and an average of 10 comments. The average ratio of votes to views is 1.11%. The average number of pages is 2.9, with the longest story being 24 pages.

So far there have been a total of 32,699 votes, 3,054,959 views, 1,123 favorites and 1,099 comments.

The standard deviation of scores (from the average of 4.23) is 0.42 and the standard deviation of votes (from the average of 305) is 405. The median score is 4.30, the median number of votes is 176 and the median number of pages is 2. The top 25% of scores are 4.60 or above and the bottom 25% of scores are 3.94 or below.

Sweeps

Some votes have been reduced (swept) since the start of the competition. A total of 64 stories have had their votes adjusted, with 67 sweeps resulting in a new score that day which is higher than before and 13 sweeps resulting in a new score that day which is lower. There were a total of 492 votes swept, being an average of 7 per story. The maximum number of votes swept for a single story was 137. (Figures based on toplists, and may not be totally accurate).

Looks like I got slammed last night. 300 plus votes swept in my top story. 1180+ down to 880+. My second story, with almost twice as many votes lost about 10.

Still unsure why I get hit the last day of most contests. Someone's definitely screwing with me. This time it looks like it didn't change the score much. Maybe down .01

I think you failed to note the score stayed the same.

Most likely there were a few cheerleader votes like many stories get and a few lower votes swept to even it out.

And from what I have seen (no experience yet as this is my first incest entry) incest stories can lose hundreds of votes and have their scores drop.

Silkstockinglover has complained of this the last couple of contests. I suppose she's cheating right?
